Developer Playtonic Games has scaled back for its follow-up to its 3D platformer, Yooka-Laylee. The sequel, named Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, opts for a two dimensional perspective, with a top-down hub world. From what we've seen of it so far, it's looking like a smaller but better constructed game. We're definitely eager to try it for ourselves.
Fortunately, there isn't long to wait. Publisher Team 17 has announced Impossible Lair will launch on 8th October 2019, meaning there's just over a month to go. What's more, it's been confirmed that tonics are making a comeback from the first game. Tonics are game-altering collectables that can change things like the visual style or even how the game plays. You can see them in action in the new trailer above. Additionally, pre-ordering the game will earn you four tonics right off the bat.

This is looking a lot more focused than the original and some definite Donkey Kong Country vibes which is always a good thing, another for the ever growing list this year
Very nice. Games coming thick and fast now
I'm still undecided whether to buy Yooka Laylee even on a sale but this one looks ace.It might be a Day One too but probably for the Switch.
@Frigate No worries, the devs said this isn't a full sequel. Simply a spinoff. They hope to revisit 3D Platforming.
The original didn’t really grab me, played 2 hours and it felt ‘wrong’ - not sure how else to describe it
