And just like that, the previously leaked Marvel's Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition is out now on PlayStation 4. The blockbuster PS4 exclusive will be a year old in about a week, and so the timing of this release seems just right.
As you'd expect, the Game of the Year Edition includes both the base release and all downloadable content. In Spidey's case, this means that you get the three-episode 'The City That Never Sleeps' saga bundled with the game.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition is priced at $39.99/£44.99. Yeah, we don't know how that exchange rate works either. It's available both on the PlayStation Store and at retailers. A physical copy comes with a voucher for the DLC.

Not a bad package for $39.99. It's a great price point for anyone that has yet to get the game, with all of the update suits and DLC together.
digital only or will there be a disc release too with everything on the disc?
ok i found out, its voucher and not on disc, and its probably just a repacked vanilla disc with none of the updates on it and only have new printed label and cover, in other words its worthless to me..
"what’s in the Game of the Year Edition? You’ll find the full game, as well as a voucher for the entire Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps DLC. You can buy it today at PlayStation Store or at your favorite local gaming retailer."

Well you know what sucks? A delivery guy is turning up to my house in half an hour with a copy of Spider-Man for £30.
I also just found a pre-owned copy of Megaman ZX Advent for £45 last week. Capcom then announced a Collection, deciding to do something with those games for once.
Oh well.
Updated the article with more info.
also the dlc voucher will expire on 08/28/2022, yeah its really an honor to get this crap release, where they are so greedy they cant even bother to give us a proper goty with everything on the disc.
So it's cheaper to buy the standard edition which £20 on Amazon at the moment and get the dlc which is on sale on the store
@TheBuzz and
Basically the norm now apart from Witcher went think of any other game in which DLC was on disc
tbh I have the original copy that I haven't opened yet.
@Knuckles-Fajita Well the City That Never Sleeps DLC is £15.99 all in, so only a quid out
Wow I knew the pound is collapsing but that’s an interesting exchange rate!
The physical version doesn't seem to be available on Amazon, yet.
I won't be picking that up at that ridiculous 'exchange rate'. $39.99 currently equates to £32.57, so it's significantly overpriced for everyone else... I'm guessing it's a similar situation with Euros and the rest. Our £44.99 currently equates to $54.59. That's utterly ridiculous, doubly so when it comes to digital versions with absolutely no additional packaging and distribution costs.
I sincerely hope they aren't contemplating any price hikes for next-gen games... at least, certainly not outside the US. They screwed us with that for this gen, bumping games from £45 to £55 while the US remained at $60.
I'm sure US gamers won't be happy, but maybe bump the US price for next gen and give the rest of us a break from this BS; we've being paying over the odds for at least 6 years now.
I paid £55 for the base game on launch 🤮 I feel sick now, should've waited
@Paranoimia They will do. Every new console gets it's game prices up in the first year or so.
@RonaldGPotter
Can you stop spamming ever lost with this
@AdamNovice US prices were held at $60 from PS3 to PS4, while they went up for everyone else.
This is one of those games I know I'd love, but I have such a hard time buying it because of the time sick I know it will be....
They should offer discounted DLC only at the same time of game of the year titles releases. You know for people that paid full launch price. This is why its rare that I buy DLC at all.
@NathanUC You could smash the main game in under a week.
@KALofKRYPTON but trophhhhhhies
Cool.i been waiting for this word up son
@NathanUC It's not really much of a grind if you break it up.
I just bought Spidey and his DLC pals for $23 last sale so I'm good.
Cool, been waiting for this to be announced for a while now. I'll make this a Christmas gift to myself when the time is right. Only dilemma now is do I buy it digitally, or do I get it on disc. I prefer to have my games on disc, but I suspect it's going to be $170 or more here 😥
Bought the $80 version day one so I already have this game of the year edition
It's out now? But it says 4th of September on Amazon.
@Paranoimia - you're forgetting to add the 20% for V.A.T, which when added to £33 takes it to about £40 quid, but even corporations have transactional charges on foreign exchange,
i suspect next gen games will be closer to £70, they're already 70 euro and the rate is getting close to 1;1. RRP tends to be set at the start of each generation, allowing for some natural fluctuation in exchanges. back when PS3 came out, the pound was pushing $2, which is why games were around the 40 quid mark. By the time PS4 rolled around, they pound had dropped by about 25%, and games were 50 quid. It's already dropped another 25%, and by the time next winter comes, who knows...
The game's been near the top of my wishlist for a while now. But at £45 (especially when compared to $40), I'll wait for another sale.
@suikoden @Knuckles-Fajita Actually Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX is being released physically with all of the dlc on disc, Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely get a complete version with all dlc on disc after a year.
It's not that difficult or expensive to release a GOTY edition with all dlc on disc.
Already have the game and the DLC. Heck of the deal though for those who waited.
@Knuckles-Fajita Don’t to be too downbeat, I paid £50 on release and I would do it again. Fantastic game.
Too bad it's not available physically. Sony needs to fire the intern or whoever wrote that posted on their website.
I wish that you could get the new bundled deals with the dlc prorated or discounted from the amount you paid already for the full game without the dlc. Instead you have to buy all, in full, all over again. If I bought a game for $30 and the bundle is now 35 I should have the option of paying 5 for the rest. When that happens I dont ever buy the DLC cause I already feel screwed over.
@Knuckles-Fajita cant you just cancel?
@HankySpanky Not when it was out of delivery at the time of the announcement!
@leucocyte You're right, I had forgotten about US game prices being net of sales tax.
That said, if you take the 20% VAT off of a £55 game, that gives an equivalent pre-tax price of around £46. However, the exchange rate at the start of this generation was £1 = $1.61 or $1 = £0.62, and if you work out a straight conversion, that gives a price of around £37. That means that even before VAT, we were being asked to pay around 24% more than US folks.
Now with this release, sure, £32.57 + 20% comes to a little under £40. But at £44.99, that means that realistically we're still expected to pay more than 12% extra for the same product.
That's significantly more than covering exchange fees, and feels a lot like we've been subsidising the US price lock. And don't forget, these inflated prices also apply to games like Killzone Shadow Fall, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and any other title produced by Sony's UK/Euro-based studios, which kinda stinks.
If they do keep $60 for next-gen and hike prices for the rest of the world again, well...
They really should of put it on two discs, from what I understand the combined total would not be enough to fit on one bluray. RDR2 managed to do it by having an install disc and game disc.
I just can't see many people getting this physically, such a shame.
@leucocyte and everyone else in argos in the UK u can the goty edition for 35 pounds. Base game is 30 so ur getting all the the dlc for 5 pounds extra which isn't to bad. Pitty there's lots of good games at that price just now though. The devison 2 u can get for 18 pounds as with oddesy and same for just cause 4 and shadow of the tomb raider whick has excellent graphics compared to other titles even rdr2 and gow also 29.99 argos is ur best bet in the UK for games especially when in a sale. Or base.Com is great value also. I'm in two minds to buy this or buy control instead. Decisions are a bitch lol
