To the surprise of absolutely no one, Activision will be hosting an open beta test for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Announced during the lengthy multiplayer reveal livestream, you'll be able to take the game for a spin about a month before launch. If you're a PlayStation 4 owner, you'll get twice the hands on time, thanks to Sony's ongoing marketing partnership.
On PS4, the beta takes place over two weekends in September -- the 14th to the 16th, and then from the 19th to the 23rd. If you pre-order the game, you'll have access to the beta two days early, meaning you can play as early as the 12th September. Specific times have yet to be announced.
According to Activision, any progress you make during the beta will not carry over to the full game. It seems you'll also be able to pre-load the beta client, but dates haven't been announced for this yet.
