Cyberpunk 2077 won't have any pre-order bonuses. A user over on Reddit asked the game's official Twitter account if there would be any incentives, and the developer's reply is rather refreshing: "We don't do that. Every person that buys the game gets exactly the same in-game content, no matter if they buy it in pre-orders, on release date, or two years later."
At this point CD Projekt Red has a reputation for being consumer friendly, and this kind of stance is only going to enhance that. With The Witcher 3, for example, standard retail copies of the game came with a number of extras, and post-launch, the title received a number of totally free content updates that included entirely new quests. Even the game's outstanding expansions were priced way lower than many expected.
Of course, it should be noted that Cyberpunk 2077 does have an expensive collector's edition, but that also doesn't include any in-game bonuses as far as we're aware.
Do you appreciate CD Projekt Red's stance on pre-order content? Give a thumbs up in the comments section below.

They did it for The Witcher 2, got it really wrong and ended up giving them all to everyone. I don't think it's an unfair question. "We don't do that", but you did prior to your last game.
@Robinsad Yup. A more accurate statement would be "we don't do that anymore".
That sounded overly negative, I love cdpr but it's like me saying I don't eat chocolate because I haven't this week.
More of this please, developers like these are so rare these days
I'm glad it doesn't have digital preorder bonus but what about physical like the the preorder bonus for CTR a Crash dashboard bobble that was a really nice incentive to buy it day one
@GKO900 there was exclusive physical content on Xbox for Witcher 3 so again I can see similar.
These guys know how to stay on the good side of fans, that's for sure.
Oh how lovely of them
No reason to pre-order then i'll just grab a copy on release day
But aren’t they giving pre orders in UK a steelbook cover and everywhere else gets nothing?
@clarksmc "Every person that buys the game gets exactly the same in-game content"
Steelbook <> in-game
Not trying to be a jerk, it's just the way I type.
They are also selling an expensive collectors edition, as per the article, that also doens't seem to include any in-game content.
So basically the CDPR guy worded his sentence like he was auditioning for a job at Nintendo.
And hes' also probably wrong b/c anybody buying the game "or two years later" will probably be paying $20 for the complete edition w/ all the content.
Kudos CDPR, kudos
Good on them, locking content to preorders is just an annoyance.
@rjejr I know they are referencing in game only. Just wish I could get my hands on one. Wouldn’t even mind paying more since I think CD is great.
We dont do that....anymore
@clarksmc Yeah, after Witcher 3 they could probably get away with a lot. But I think the no in game stuff is fine. Seems to me like half the time pre-order bonus stuff shows up in the game later anyway.
@crimsontadpoles what's worse is when they lock that pre-order bonus exclusively to a single retailer take for example the Deluxe Edition of the FFVII Remake, it's a GAME Exclusive in the UK and that's b*******
"We don't do that" is entirely accurate. No need for the "anymore" .
@BowTiesAreCool my thoughts exactly. If they said "we never do this" would be incorrect. But their statement sits in the present, so it's an accurate one with no need to add "any more".
Pre-order bonuses will not reach the level of scum as selling NFC toys that give you extra in-game content.
@Robinsad The company mindset probably have changed after or during Witcher 3 so that will explain why they are doing it right now. They probably learn from their mistake.
Polish socialists!
Mmm ok but any "holier than thou" attitude is a turn-off, dear social media manager.
