Japanese role-playing game fans rejoice, for the second chapter in Falcom's excellent Trails of Cold Steel series is set to launch this June on PlayStation 4. Trails of Cold Steel released just over a month ago back at the end of March, and with the third game due out later this year, we were wondering when Trails of Cold Steel II would show up on Sony's current-gen system.
It's launching on the 4th June in North America, and the 7th June in Europe, so fans don't have long to wait.
As alluded, Trails of Cold Steel II is a direct sequel to Trails of Cold Steel -- an already huge adventure that ends on something of a cliffhanger. If you haven't finished the first entry, we'd recommend cracking on sooner rather than later.
If you're not even sure what Trails of Cold Steel is, we'd recommend reading our review. We'll reiterate the gist of it here: if you're a fan of Japanese RPGs, you've gotta give it a shot.

I am way too excited for this.
Already bought the steelbook edition of the first game remaster on ps4, will buy this if there’s steelbook special edition again.
Edit: I just watch it, Relentless Edition here I come
I really want to give these a go. I love huge stories, and these are meant to be amazing. The length is daunting me though...
Actually, it's June 4th for North America, not June 5th.
I nearly got the first one the other day but I’m really worried it’ll be too much like Persona. Really, how less restrictive is it overall than that game? Is it anything closer to something like something like Final Fantasy? Can I explore towns and go in shops and stuff?
The first 2 games were amazing on the vita. Will feel abit wrong to play the next on ps4.
@kyleforrester87 I would argue it is more restrictive than Persona (which I loved). It does, however, carry more than enough of its own charm to see it through, and I played it almost exclusively for the sixty hours it took me for completion. I am very much looking forward to the the second one, and am genuinely gutted that it has been delayed.
@NimrodsSon I am still willing to give it a go I think I need to wait for a discount. I really can’t judge whether it’ll be for me or not. I didn’t like Persona 4 or 5 at all really.
Playing the first game right now, at chapter 3. It's as jrpg as they come, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. After hearing/reading everyone giving it praise, specially Ben from EasyAllies, I decided to give it a go.
It's really nice to see that the characters seem to get older as the games go buy, just wish there were anime cutscenes in the game.
@kyleforrester87 in persona you can still e xplore the towns. Its very loosly like persona. You build relationships with your classmates that help in battle. There is dungeon crawler stuff in it but not as much as persona and not as restricted . The story has been awesome. Im only on chapter 3
Had no idea this game was on ps3. Im currently on chapter 3 . The bosses in the dungeon crawler bit have been tough but the story has been very interesting. Not as restricted as persona . Ive heard theres 4 games for the series . Looking forward to what part two brings but will probably be a while before i play it
@kyleforrester87 It's got Persona-like elements (such as bond building) but it's structured a lot more like a traditional JPRG. That said, you don't get to freely explore the world like you would in a Final Fantasy game, going from town to town via an open map.
It's very much chapter-based, so each chapter, you're generally given a town/city and the surrounding area to explore, if that makes sense.
@ShogunRok it doesn’t really sound like it’ll be for me honestly, but I remain intrigued so I’ll keep an eye out for a sale. Thanks though.
@kyleforrester87 If it makes any difference, the second game's a lot more open.
@ShogunRok nice will have a look. It’s weird because I want open, but I want restrictive. It has to be just right and I won’t know until I try it 😂
@kyleforrester87 You could always watch Let's Plays on YouTube if you want to know what the games are like.
