PlayStation is, first and foremost, about the games, but we'd be lying if we said we didn't make use of the multimedia apps on PS4 too. With services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, and loads more ready and waiting on your console, it's easy to get your movie streaming fix all from one device. By the sound of it, you'll be able to binge on all the superhero movies and animated classics you can handle, because Disney+ is coming to consoles.
Disney+, if you haven't heard, is The Walt Disney Company's on-demand streaming service, and it's been confirmed for launch on 12th November 2019 in the US, with other countries to follow. In a statement released yesterday, the media giant says the service will be available on "connected TV and mobile devices," including "game consoles" as well as smart TVs and, well, pretty much anything that can get online. It's almost certainly going to be on PS4.
In addition to the expected Disney movies, you'll have access to Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic films and shows, as well as content from the freshly acquired 20th Century Fox. This will include all seasons of The Simpsons, hundreds of movies, and other programming. Throw in a bunch of original creations and it all sounds very robust.
Will you be subscribing to Disney+ on PS4? Are you excited for its arrival, or will it just be another app to ignore? Step in time in the comments below.

The Princess Bride? I'm in.
Sounds Good But Nah i'll Pass Good For Those Who Want It Tho
I'm interested if the have 4k HDR options on offer and they stream well, if the price is right of course.
@Futureshark $7 monthly with 4K HDR included.
I've just read that statement properly and holy s**t this is gonna be awesome, bring on the UK version and bye bye Sky, BT and Virgin with their ridiculous subscription prices
Already got enough subscriptions. There'll be other ways to see anything worth viewing.
Amazon Prime+Netflix+Disney is the way to go. 400 a yr combined.
Defo give it a go if the price is right in the UK and the content is substantial. Hopefully there will be a free trial of some sort.
Going to be a very strong contender to dethrone Netflix I imagine. Hopefully Netflix sticks around though and keeps the market competitive.
Good to see it on the PS4, I do use my system for streaming and it's annoying b/c as many as it does have it's still missing a lot, like all the Live TV streaming apps that compete with Vue.
Better to have it than not, you can always ignore it.
@Shepherd_Tallon this is my issue. Throw in things like crunchu roll, hulu, hbo go etc and its all very silly. And game publishers will be keen to go the same way. We already have ea origin etc. It all adds up very quickly
@Nyne11Tyme I would include HBO as well.
I like the D in Disney, so much so that I bit it and it's been in my signature for years.
@Shepherd_Tallon I wholeheartedly agree with you!
I wonder what Walt Disney would think of his company nowadays if he was magically still around & kicking today...
Not going to lie, when I saw the Disney logo I thought they bought Sony lol
I'm sticking with Netflix...thanks though.
Bag a cheap deal, binge some stuff, quit. I usually keep Netflix and everything else is subbed to intermittently.
Disney and Apple will fight to purchase the PlayStation business one day.
I have way too many subscriptions.
What regions does this apply to?
I'm definitely going to subscribe, monthly at first then yearly when I can afford to.
