Well, we now know what Persona 5 R is. Kind of. Its full title is Persona 5: The Royal, and the game's brief teaser trailer shows a new female character. But guess what? Atlus says more information is coming next month, on the 24th April. Trolled again!

So... What is Persona 5: The Royal? Well, the official Japanese website now states that it's an RPG, so our best guess is that it is indeed an enhanced version of Persona 5, much like how Persona 4 Golden was an enhanced version of Persona 4. Perhaps this new female character is playable? Or maybe she's an additional endgame boss?

According to a translation of the trailer by Gematsu, she says: "I think helping people is a wonderful thing, but if I had to say, I don’t like them. I don’t think the Phantom Thieves’ methods will make the world a better place or help anyone. In the end, I feel like you can only solve that yourself.” Sounds like she's some kind of antagonist, right? This speech at least suggests that she exists alongside the main character and his Phantom Thief pals, so maybe we can rule out the possibility of her being an optional female lead.

The Royal is still pinned as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, by the way, and we guess that we'll just have to wait until next month to finally get the full story. Didn't we say that Atlus would do this? Give us some predictions in the comments section below.
