I mean, "crap selection" is a bit strong. It's not a terrible selection of games: I just happen to already own The Witness (decent game for the most part) and have no interest in Call of Duty, so it's a terrible month for me.
I'm pleased. Call of Duty will be a fun weekend romp and an easy Platinum. Witness is not my type of game so won't be adding that one. Worth the ~$4 for me personally for this month!
I am much more interested in the Witness.
I never intended to pay for a Call of duty but I was always curious about the solo campaign, so this is the perfect opportunity. No multi for me (especially with the average age being 8 yo on Call of Duty).
Last time I played an FPS on console it was Metroid Prime Corruption on the Wii, so I am curious how bad I will be with a dualshock.
Seems bad saying it's a rubbish month since both games are good, but since both games I currently own, it's not like I'm getting anything out of it. Simultaneously disappointed and utterly unsurprised that they didn't add more PS4 games to the monthly offering to make up for the lack of PS3 and Vita games.
We lose vita games and ps3 and we are rewarded with an old cod and a game that like some one already pointed out, if people wanted it they would have bought it cheap by now, so no I am not amused
Never redeemed PS3 or Vita unless xbuy with PS4 so don't miss it. Both games are decent quality but with one being 12 yrs old kinda meh.
Hasn't The Witness been on GWG as well so if you subscribe to both it would be very disappointing. Already have The Witness its a decent enough game but has been on sale a lot. I would say last months PS4 games were a lot better value and selection. For Honor and Hitman, 2 high profile recentish games. If there plan is to keep it to 2 games a month they kinda needed to go big this month. I would possibly say they should of swapped this February's and March's games around.
@bindiana hitman season 1 not hitman 2. That would of been amazing.
NM read that wrong, no comma or period threw me off! Lol
If there was another smaller indie game or psvr game thrown in on top of those two games, it would have been perfect. Not for me, i dont have psvr or really want to play the two available games, but three titles would have softened the blow of losing the ps3 games and Vita games. I really loved getting those extra cross buy titles for my ps4 that were on Vita also. (I dont have a Vita either but i liked the extra bonus of having them available on ps4)
It's not the end of the world though. And im sure when PS5 comes things will flip around to a better (for me) value for money deal. As it stands this month, it's not great for me, but i would imagine these games would be great for others.
@ellsworth004 Yeah I meant Hitman series one missed a comma. Its a great game even though I am rubbish at it
It's alright like. I think Sony spoilt us all with PS Plus games during the PS3 era.
terrible i think we getting short changed here by sony
My average โhit-rateโ on the PS plus games is about 1 game every 2-3 months maybe. So even though at first glance having 2 games instead of 6 and really only having slight interest in one of them (The Witness for me) seems like a huge change and a rip-off, in actuality if I end up playing The Witness in a month or two, it will technically be a good month. Or to put it another way โ I bet Iโve only played 20% of PS plus games over the last 4 years, so if I play 50% of this monthโs games, well thatโs a pretty good month.
I guess the 1 year psplus + rainbow six siege was a good way for Sony to lock players in for a year before drastically reducing the value of the service. Very clever Sony ๐ค
@tameshiyaku Anyone who bought 1 year of Plus at full price just to get RSS only has themselves to blame! I mean, you can usually get 12 months Plus for ยฃ35.99 in a sale, and RSS is about ยฃ9.99 a lot of the time. So, in effect you were actually getting ripped off by getting it as a package deal.
I'm torn on this. One, I think increasing the price of Plus and then taking away most of the free games is bad. But then I'm thinking, well how many people actually really, hand on heart, played either the PS3 or Vita games, or even the cross-buy indie dross we got fairly regularly?
The other part of me agrees that this months games are pretty lame after increasing the price and reducing the freebies, but then my internal dialogue is again at odds because I'm wondering what games exactly were people expecting now we only get two? They can't seriously have been expecting RDR2, GoW, Spiderman, GTA or anything surely?
No-one has actually said what they think they should have received anyway?
Very decent offering, hopefully we'll get a spattering of VR titles throughout the year too.
@redd214 "Call of Duty will be a fun weekend romp and an easy Platinum."
I hope you enjoy getting 'Mile High Club' as much as I did (on the 360 many moons ago - never again).
The Witness is a quality game, do not dismiss it as it id a bit special.
@tomassi
Well they have a lot of there own games they could of given away a quick list of the top of my head
Infamous Second Son
Killzone
Everybodys Golf
Knack 2
Horizon
The Order
Last of Us Remastered
Gravity Rush 1 or 2
Drive club
Wipeout
Last Guardiann
Any one of the unchartered remasters
Plus quite a few VR titles
Anyone of these would of been a good addition and I would personally say not unrealistic games maybe exception of Horizon and they wouldn't have had to do a deal with a publisher
@biscuit_of_rage
"terrible i think we getting short changed here by sony"
Have to agree with this. With the PS3 and Vita games going away, I think they should have offered 3 PS4 games or throw in a VR title. We used to get 2 games (plus others) and now we get 2 PS4 games.
@Futureshark yeah heard that one was a pain. Thankfully apparently there is a glitch that hasn't been patched out that makes it much easier.
Not really a fan of puzzle games outside of Tetris, Dr Mario, Peggle and games like that. Watching gameplay of the Witness just doesn't look like something I would enjoy at all despite the glowing reception.
I stopped downloading or adding to library the Vita and PS3 games years ago. I always download the Ps4 games as I have 5TB storage but realistically I never play them. If I liked them I've already bought them. I literally have no time in my life to play games I didn't want even if some may be great to others. My back log is vast from games I really want to play. Even after all this I still think it's good value just to have a more stable online, its noticeably better than when it was free.
My sub runs out in April I think I renewed because they gave away 12 months with Star Wars Battlefront 1 Ultimate Edition with it which I never played. But I did get some blinding games for free during my year I'm ok about MW but I can see the monthly content being watered down a bit now PS3/Vita has been dropped. But then again the PS3 wasn't getting any great games for a while when it was just the PS3 we would get some great triple a games like Deux Ex HR, Warhammer 40k Space Marine then PS4 came and it was crap. MGS4 wasn't even that a great choice they could have chosen 2 titles for PS3 to go out on a blinder.
I'm not a big fan of shooters, and we already got a call of duty game in october. Fifa would've been a worse game though.
@bindiana Pretty sure they've given out Infamous and Drive Club in the past already? And I think if they'd given out The Order or Killzone people would probably still have complained.
At the end of the day, people want hugely popular games, but if that's what we get, most people will have played them all already anyway. It's a no win every month. The only way Sony can actually make the situation better is continue to give out decent games (like they have done over the last year or so) and add an extra smaller indie game as well.
To be honest I always have something to play anyway but I am a bit dissapointed.I'm quite curious about the Witness but I'm not really into puzzle games.Call Of Duty on the other hand...I used to be a big fan so I guess I'll try this Remastered version despite already having played the original when I was a young boy..
I think the thing is that the service provided a certain amount of free games. Now it's just two. So I think that they should have made the effort to have a good first month. Never played The Witness, but COD MW remastered should've been the second best game in the selection. They should've put one good game, this remaster and the witness. Then it would be decent
no, i'm not happy with the selection tbh and i doubt i would have the free time to play them anyway, regardless the game selection really does need to improve.
@tomassi haha, true. Guess these folks will be happy to receive something as generic as modern warfare.
The witness is a fantastic game though I must admit.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Depends VR has sold well but a majority of the PS4 user base doesn't have one apparently so why would thy put on a game most people can't play
they would get a lot of flack for that
@Neolit I actually played the original Modern Warfare on the 360 ages ago. It had its moments (the nuke scene, in particular), but I have no interest in competitive multiplayer.
I guess there's no harm in downloading it to replay the campaign, though. Not now, but one day, perhaps, when I've exhausted most of my other options.
Although my interest in the military FPS in general is pretty low. I'm more keen on frenetic action masterpieces like DOOM and story-driven shooters like Bioshock.
@FullbringIchigo Most of them didnโt own a Vita either; and a lot of VR games can be played without VR.
Iโm mixed. Semi-happy with the two games on offer in that I am willing to try both.
However, I think they should have 3 games at least after dropping Vita and PS3.
They could easily give us some classic games from previous consoles to help newer gamers experience them and give all of us more value.
There are also options for exclusive content and so forth. Just think if they had a free skin for PS Plus members on Fortnite for this month only (or run it for a year even) it could help boost PS Plus sales.
Sony needs to think outside the box.
Stoked to try out Modern Warfare again, just hope the skill level is not too high that I can't get any kills!
TBH though I probably won't download for a while cause games are always like 30+ GB...
It's okay but I do still feel like they should of offered something extra to make up for the cut consoles. I think they dropped the ball slightly. I dont have plus for games but I can understand people who being upset.
Itโs a good selection of games, but I believe Sony should offer at least one indie or a VR game with these two titles, especially now that PS3 and Vita games are not available anymore.
My sub expires mid march and I think I will let it. The games are so old that it's quite a poor month. Ps Now is now providing me more with Vita and PS3 being gone. And I get PS3 games would be old but with all 6 it just about made it worthwhile for me.
It's okay for me. Bought The Witness in a sale a while back, but haven't finished it... I got close to the end (I think), but it got a bit tedious.
I might pick up the Modern Warfare remaster though... it was a great game, and the last CoD I ever bought. I hear they apparently shoved bloody MTX into the multi-player, but I probably won't touch that anyway - I just want to re-play the campaign.
Steaming pile
Pretty meh, already have the remastered cod and not interested in the witness
I extended my PS+ in the USA for $39.99 on Black Friday. I try to add all the games to my library. Truth is I have not had the time to play one of them in quite a while. The games I do purchase have kept me busy and built quite a backlog. I pay by the year that's the way i judge the service. Its kept me very happy looking at it as a yearly service. I join Oct 2010 and never let my membership laps. That's a huge library of games!
It's a good pair of games this month but considering that Hitman and For Honor were included last month along with PS3 and PSV titles, it does seem like a reduction in value. I don't see the service returning to the glory days of PS3, but I don't think it unreasonable to offer 4 titles a month with a mixture of AAA, indie, VR and retro.
It's pretty simple. If as many people had a Vita as the number of people complaining about losing games for it... Sony would still be making the Vita. Its a dead system that never had appropriate support either from developers or Sony and anything worth giving has been given.
As for the PS3, it makes sense to kill it now to make way and build hype for the PS5, and like the Vita, the vault's running thin. If there's good stuff that hasn't been on Plus it's probably due to licencing or a refusal of the developer/publisher.
IMO PS Plus should only support at best one legacy system below current gen.
Sony is starting to remind me of MS post Kinect. Arrogant and tone deaf.
6 games down to 2 at the same price? This is not good. At. All. A VR game or one of the billion indies they love to tout would have been an acceptable compromise. But no, we're in the lead so take it in the hole. Our overrated first partyexclusives will ensure our fans will take it and love every inch.
What people objecting to isnโt really the loss of PS3 and PSV games. Itโs for loss of cross buy games. If that had cut the PS3 and PS Vita games to 1 a month but guaranteed they would always be cross buy then they probably wouldnโt of had a negative reaction. A cross buy game is the PS4 game as much as it is a PSV game.
It's all down to personal opinion. If you have one or both games then it's not gong to be a particular good month (like has happened to me on a number of occasions). If you have neither and looking at past reviews each game scores fairly high then it's a good month. Can't believe we haven't had killzone yet though. Many late comers have missed some good stuff so now PS3 and Vita aren't being supported then a third old classic would go down well.
@redd214 COD a easy Platinum well i have to disagree that ####### level in the airplain. ๐
@Rolyatthegoon This arrogance nonsense again yeah its such BS. Sony should give PSPlus a discount with no games for โฌ45.
@Flaming_Kaiser like I said in a follow up reply, there is a work around that apparently makes it much much easier that still hasn't been patched so e shall see!
Edit: plus is CONSTANTLY on discount somewhere if you look around. Dont think I've ever paid full price for it. Was 25% off a couple days ago on a few sites.
@WillMerfi Sounds like a plan put 1 indie game in there but im 1000% sure people will still go mental. ๐ ๐
@redd214 Somehow im always out of luck when i need it. ๐
