Electronic Arts is going big with its ANTHEM promotions. The publisher has partnered with Hollywood director Neill Blomkamp to produce a short film set in the game's world. Called Conviction, the video will debut here on 14th February -- Valentine's Day. You can see a brief teaser above.
Blomkamp is famed for his work on sci-fi movies such as District 9, Chappie, and Elysium, so he seems like a solid choice to bring BioWare's upcoming looter shooter to life. In a press release, the director is excited to be working on the project: "I was really blown away by this incredible world BioWare created the very first time I saw Anthem,” he says. “Conviction sets the stage with a narrative that touches on Anthem’s beautiful and immersive world, which is ripe for exploration by these powerful Javelins. A world where danger is lurking on every ledge and in each valley.”
Set decades before the events of the game, Conviction will show off player hub Fort Tarsis, as well as the Javelins themselves as Freelancers do battle with the big baddy, the Monitor.

Looked interesting and hopefully will set up the game's story well. I know there are collectables to fill in some of the 'lore', but this could really set the scene well...
This is great! Will definitely tune in on Thursday
More interested in this than the game. Not hating on the game, just not for me.
Isn't it one of those bizarre oats studio things, meh
Nothing like adding to the game's budget then making an expensive short film. But they won't blame that if the game performs "below expectations".
No story my ass, BioWare will show you
