Well this is a news article that we never saw coming. Today, Skybound Games and Beamdog have announced that they're teaming up to publish a bunch of old school role-playing games on PS4 in 2019. The list includes Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and Neverwinter Nights. Crazy, huh?
All six of these Dungeons & Dragons tie-ins were apparently handpicked by Beamdog, a company that has a history of enhancing classic RPGs on PC. All of them, dubbed 'Enhanced Editions', will be available at retail or through the PlayStation Store, according to the press release. What's more, Skybound Games says that we'll be hearing much more about the enhancements in the coming months.

A time where games were games and gamers were gamers. Not commercial not streamline not conventional. Just pure gameplay.
I played all of these game on pc back then, I feel old 😅
Planescape torment is one of the best rpg ever, the story, settings, and charactes are really really good. Both planescape torment and unreal tournament pc is my 1999 game of the year.
Gimme Dark Alliance damn it!!
Neverwinter Nights too? Great news!
I will be picking them all up when they release
@KALofKRYPTON Dark Alliance is one of my favorite games of all time, I would love for that to happen. I recently bought a PS2 just to play the second one. (I only had a GameCube)
Never played these on PC but watched my cousins play and thought it was awesome, will def pick this up now!
Unbelievably cool! How many hours can be gotten out from these games put together like this?
Holy - this is amazing!!

Old school rpg! Long live the classic! Getting them all
Heck yeah!!!! I use to play these all the time when I had a PC.
This is great news, I played a little of baldurs gate way back when but none of the others, hmm. Bunduru?
Yaaa balders gate! But hey never winter is already on ps4??? Me confused
Omg this just made my day! I’ve always wanted to play these games so I will be there day freaking one
@Gmork___ that's a different game
Never played them but just recently started playing D&D and I’m loving it and I never knew those games were part of the d&d world and I really want to try them now
This is great news. Never played the classic versions, but rather dark alliance and stuff like that. Are these games co op?
Excellent news!
Some of the best games ever made right there.
If they did Dark Alliance 1 & 2 I'd be in, the others not so much
Playing these classics with trophies? Yes please!
Just make them play well with a controller and I'm in.
I need to find more time in the day...
* backlog starts weeping sofly in the background *
@Stragen8 Mate! The GC version of Dark Alliance is trash! I've owned both over the years and the PS2 one is a much nicer experience. The Xbox version is reportedly better than the PS2 one.
If you've got a PS2 or OG Xbox, treat yourself and pick up the first one again
What?! I missed this! This is great news!!
Neverwinter Nights! Does it come with the 2 expansions, I wonder?
I think there are a few people getting confused by Baldur's Gate. This isn't unfortunately the PS2 classic hack 'n' slash Dark Alliance (ahhh, the Elfsong Tavern!) but an ancient PC RPG that was re-released on Android and iOS a couple of years ago.
Wish Sony wold pick up Dark Alliance and (their own IP!) Norrath and get them on the PS4.
Wow, that is pretty big news. I still have these games for my PC, so personally I don't think I will re-buy them for the PS4, but it's very cool to see them coming to the PS4.
Incredible news, what's next the Gold Box games?
I don't know how I feel about this. I love Baldur's Gate and the other Infinity engine games of the time, but I've heard bad things about the Enhanced Editions (which have been out for quite a while on other platforms)
@sanderson72 To be fair, most people consider the turn based Baldur's Gate games to be superior.
@RadoGoji What did you hear?
@doctommaso I may have jumped the gun a bit when posting that, but I recall seeing stuff about bugs and stability issues from reviews a few years back. Not sure if they have been fixed by now or not, but another thing that pushed people's buttons was when the devs made their own new expansion and plopped modern-day gender politics in there.
EDIT: The article mentions Seige of Dragonspear, which is that very expansion.
@RadoGoji Ugh. That sounds pretty bad.
I remember stumbling onto Baldur's Gate when I was younger. One of the best games I have ever played. I'm excited. I hope it aged well.
@sanderson72
These games are far superior to dark alliance games and I love them , but these are true classic with no hand holding are hack and slash gameplay
Switch is getting physical releases.
Two games per pack, what about PS4?
