On the brink of releasing Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown on PS4, Bandai Namco has posted yet another video on the fighter jet action game. The topic this time is the PlayStation VR support included in the new title which, for some, is the real draw. Flying a supersonic plane, shooting bogeys out of the sky, and performing sweet air stunts in virtual reality? Count us in.
The video features a couple of people from developer Project Aces as they discuss their approach to bringing Ace Combat and PSVR together. Jun Tamaoki was brought in to lead VR development, and with his help, progress on this aspect of the game was much faster, says brand director Kazutoki Kono. He also stipulated that you only see from the perspective of the pilot at all times to keep you immersed in the experience.
It's an interesting video, and has plenty of footage from the VR mode to give you a taste of what it offers. We'll be able to talk about Ace Combat 7's PSVR support, and the game as a whole, in our review, which should show up on your radar soon.

This definitely needs a demo. Need to see if I can get used to it without getting motion sickness.
I'm very interested in this, what time is the review embargo up?
I'm buying because ace combat, but the VR is a nice extra. I'll probably only play in VR an hour or two and much, much more without
How anyone could experience the VR play in this game & then go back to playing pancake is beyond me.
My desire for this game is reaching fever pitch. Finally bought a PS4 last weekend in prep for this. Don’t have VR yet but will be a nice extra when I can finally get one.
My only concern is the VR will be so dang good that the regular game wont hold my interest
Man this game can be one of the killer app for psvr if all of the game can be played in vr.
@wiiware You can't play the whole game in VR. It's a separate mode with its own missions to play.
@Throb Review is later in the week.
@Throb Famitsu review scores reportedly leaked as 9/9/9/8 out of ten (35/40)
@Quintumply Yeah I know, it will be great if sony fund the vr portion of the game so the whole game can be played in vr like re7. Maybe bamco will release the full vr game separately like skyrim vr.
Still gutted it's only 3 VR missions, but I can't wait for tomorrow.
