Wow, I had no idea Judgment was out already. Is there no word on an English version yet?
@nessisonett Yeah, I think they said Summer 2019. Something like that.
Dang nintendo has been killing it! I really need to get a nintendo switch
Every system seems to have gotten a boost even the dang XBOX ONE which in total sold 1,000 units which is crazy...
And again: I will never understand why the Switch is doing so well. I hate that piece of sh...
Love if judgement came to the US.
ps4 I'll be the judge of that.ill be back .and win again.word up son
Interesting that the Slim went up in sales about the same amount Pro went down, by %. They don't like 4k or spending money over there. (Not a dig, I feel the same way.)
@get2sammyb You gonna do an article about the Lockhart/Anaconda rumor? I don't think Japan is ready for a split console launch.
@rjejr It's all just crappy speculation at this stage. And I hate the codenames. So no.
Curious to see how RE2 does. I couldn't be more hyped for that.
@Lando_ Because it's got awesome exclusives, a wide range of other titles, it gives one console quality games in a portable form, plus doubles as a traditional console at home; playing LA Noire whilst commuting is really cool. It's also the perfect date console. I game with my Japanese girlfriend every chance I get.
Basically, Lighten up, sunshine.
@EVIL-C For me, it is an underpowered and overpriced piece of crap, looking at a lot of poorly executed ports. Nintendo is the Apple of the gaming industry - selling old hardware for too much money.
I don't like the Switch as a portable. It is clunky as hell and no match for the comfy Vita - even if some idiots claim, that the console "is dead". Mine is perfectly fine and alive, with a backlog of top games.
Regarding the exclusives: Nah, I liked Mario Odyssey quite a bit, but hated the empty wold of Zelda and its boring sidequests, as well as the overly complicated mechanisms of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Octopath. I don't want to talk about Tennis Aces or Smash though, since I've never been a fan of those. Too chaotic and without content (Aces, no real story mode in SBBU). I prefer classic beat em ups like Street Fighter.
So, yeah. I'm happy with my PS4 and Vita combination. Call me a Sony fanboy. I'm proud to be one.
@get2sammyb Wow I'm hyped. I'm in the middle of Yakuza Kiwami 2 (surprisingly brilliant on Vita Remote Play) and hoping that the 3, 4 and 5 remasters come over here. I'm too poor for PS Now.
@Lando_ surely you can be a little objective and at least understand why that isn't the case for lots of other people, even if it is that way for you?
@Agramonte @nessisonett @get2sammyb is right, they announced it for Western release with added English voice acting at the Kinda Funny Games showcase event the other week for Summer 2019
@toffeecrit Hopefully there's an option for the Japanese voices. Yakuza on PS2's bizarrely star-studded cast just didn't suit the game. I mean, Michael Madsen as Shimano was cool, if insane.
@Lando_ It's fine to not like something but i don't see how you can say the Switch is under-powered and lacking great games when you say you love the Vita, the Switch does everything the Vita tried and failed to do, console-quality games on the go, the Vita lacks the full amount of buttons to do it justice. Also, compare ports the Vita got like Borderlands 2 to say DOOM or Wolfenstein II, the Switch runs them like a dream, they look amazing on it so i don't know which ports are poorly executed ?
@Derpie1
Thats truly phenomenal!
@Toadie I don't like playing Wolfenstein II and Doom on my Switch, because I notice the dymanic resolution quite a lot. It's too distracting for me when it goes down to 400p and below in some situations, where there is a lot going on.
Other poor ports are: Nights of Azure II (like 10 FPS in Handheld mode) and Atelier Lydie and Suelle (looks like a PS2 game regarding the poor resolution).
@toffeecrit I fail to understand, but I accept it. I'm fine with it. There are also people who still like the Commodore 64 and even the Ouya. I don't. But it's okay. I didn't want to make it sound like, everyone has to like my favourite pizza.
Hah if Switch had sold 8 more units it would have been the exact same as last week!
@toffeecrit I was a Nintendo fan. I hate any and all handhelds and so I don't like the switch. It's not that great as a console either because I had already bought an underpowered console from Nintendo in 2012. For me, the switch was a giant slap in the face for people who already owned the Wii u and its library.
@JJ2 lol.
@Lando_ I've not played either of those so can't comment on them but overall, i've been quite pleased with the quality of the third party ports so far, before launch i had feared we'd only get lazy, rushed ports like the Wii U did but Panic Button have shown how to do it, apart from EA i feel like most of the publishers have done well.
It's definitely not perfect though, no console is, i found i didn't play much in handheld mode because i got serious cramp in my hands after a few minutes, so i bought the Satisfye gaming grip and it's amazing, makes playing handheld so comfortable now, i wouldn't be without it.
@Toadie
I'm sorry but the Switch doesn't do 'everything the Vita does blah, blah'.
Both are great consoles. People often fall into the trap of being untrue when they try to defend what they like. There's no need.
@nessisonett hope so, if the option is there on JP games i'll always play original language with subs, always feels more authentic to me. Yeah, to be fair don't think i've seen Madsen in anything when he hasn't been insane to some degree!
@Toadie Okay, thanks for the info. I also get serious cramps when playing the Switch for over an hour or so.
Regarding ports: That's cool, if you like them, but I had problems with Wolfenstein's II dynamic resolution for example. Or the framedrops during Doom. Or the abyssimal framerate of Nights of Azure 2, making the game nearly unplayable in Handheld mode (while the Vita version runs well, strangely). I could live with a stable 720p and some low looking textures, if a port on Switch has also a stable framerate and no dynamic resolution change.
I've only played Mass Effect 3 on Wii U and seriously found it to be the best version of all, because of the implementation of the map using the second screen.
@Lando_ was on board with everything you said until the statement about people liking the Ouya, now you've gone too far sir!
@JJ2 Why, what have i said that isn't true ? I wouldn't say i was defending the Switch all that much tbh just pointing out what it does well, Lando already owns a Switch so i wouldn't even try and sway his opinion, i am just interested in why he feels that way, if i was chatting to someone who's never tried it, i'd try and say why i think it's worth trying out.
@Lando_ Fair enough mate, i must have been lucky though as i played through Doom just the other week and didn't notice a single frame drop, it's had a recent patch though so maybe that's why ?
@Grim-Tuesday that's fair enough i'm sure there were plenty of other people who felt it was a slap in the face, I moderately did so. Just pointing out for the most part people who say Switch is not 'that great', or 'underpowered' do so based on subjective reasons, and that's fine, but objectively speaking there are reasons why plenty love it, just like PS4, XBOX or any device as @Lando_ suggests.
@Toadie
Fair enough, I shouldn't have inturepted your conversation. My bad, haha
Its untrue that the Switch does everything a Vita does though.
@Toadie Yeah, I have to check. I didn't play Doom on release, on Switch, since it was a bit too pricey for me, for an older game. I'm playing with the latest patch installed right now. There are some framedrops noticeable for me. Playing on easy, reducing the amount of action happening on screen, makes the game much smoother though. But as @toffeecrit wrote: Maybe it's a subjective thing...
@rjejr
That rumor doesn't bring any thing that wasn't known apart from some codenames and more speculations.
Why would Pushsquare report Xbox rumor whereas they claim not fond of reporting PS5 rumours to start with anyway?
@get2sammyb Fair enough. Maybe once spring rolls around somebody at either Sony or MS will give you some actual news to write about for a change. I went through about 2 full years of rumour and leak nonsense w/ NX, nobody enjoyed it except Damo b/c he actually had hands on truthful knowledge, but it sucked for the rest of us for 2 years. Hopefully things go more smoothly w/ Sony in 2019.
@JJ2 Same reason they report on anything Xbox, to see how it could affect Sony's console sales. There have been plenty of Xbox articles on PS, here's a search.
https://www.pushsquare.com/search?q=microsoft+xbox&submit=Go
@JJ2 No it's fine, no worries ! it is a public forum after all haha and you're right, i was looking at it strictly from the gaming side, there definitely is a lot the Vita has that the Switch doesn't do, i wish Nintendo would pull their finger out and add a web browser, multi-media apps and friend messaging etc.
I also didn't mean to come across like i was bashing the Vita as i love mine, and still play it regularly, i love being able to play my PS1 and PSP games on it, in fact i think the reason i questioned Lando in the first place is more because i see the Switch as the natural progression from the Vita over even the 3DS, that's why i was surprised to see such a difference of opinion between the two.
@Toadie The lack of a browser, media apps, and ESPECIALLY the lack of a proper messaging system are my biggest Switch criticisms. Plus the lack of internal storage, but at least SD cards are standard.
Vita comparisons are definitely valid. For everything I didn't like about vita, switch does them the right way; mainly software and hardware issue I personally had with Vita. Software is entirely subjective; switch has the games I want, whereas vita often didn't, so I never bought much for it.
I like vita as a piece of hardware (rear touch pad aside), but hardware wise, vita couldn't do proper ports of Borderlands 2, or RE Revelations 2 at all. I own both. Both are slide shows in performance, and using that rear touch pad was a terrible substitute for more buttons. Otherwise, it's comfortable.
Switch can run many current gen titles with good performance, like Doom, Wolfy 2, Rocket League, DB Fighterz, Xenoverse 2, NBA 2K, Fifa, to name a few.
There's definitely a lot of Switch fans around this site, so Nintendo did something right this time. The sales figures reflect that.
Also, anyone who understands Japanese culture like I do, since I used to live there and my girlfriend is Japanese, knows why portables do crazy-well there. I saw 3DS's and Vitas everywhere. Literally EVERY day on public trains.
@toffeecrit Yeah, most people like it because it's a handheld. My gripe with it is that Nintendo paraded the thing as a console and it's barely more powerful than the one they abandoned.
@Lando_ I always found vita incredibly uncomfortable to hold. And some games on there have ridiculous load times, especially PS4 ports. Also some ports seem to have a reduced color depth (for example DQ Builders on vita looks like if you set Windows to 256 colors). So talk about bad ports haha.
@manu0 Okay, I loved playing DQ Builders on Vita. More than I did on Switch, just because it felt way more comfy. I found the Switch version also to look extremely jaggy in docked mode.
@Lando_ do you have the LCD Vita or OLED? I have the OLED one, maybe that's what's causing the difference
