Red Dead Redemption 2 has topped the Japanese software charts, gunning down Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which had been sat at number one for two weeks in a row. Rockstar's open world masterpiece came in at 133,000 copies on PlayStation 4, which is a respectable total. Black Ops 4, meanwhile, is still doing very well for itself in second place, shifting a further 57,600 copies. Impressive stuff for Treyarch's shooter.
Elsewhere, SoulCalibur VI, which has struggled at launch in Japan, has dropped from third place to twelfth, only moving an additional 5,400 copies.
The release of Red Dead 2 didn't do much for the PS4 itself, though. Sony's system is still hanging around the 20,000 mark across the standard PS4 model and PS4 Pro.

Software does very little to move PlayStation hardware these days, does it? Decent numbers for Red Dead, though. Call of Duty still doing well, too.
Sales of PS4 software are pretty good, but hardware numbers keep being so low.
It's nothing like the last two years of the PS3 in which software could reach a large install base, but hardware kept selling for some reason. Can only mean the market really is saturated, right?
Really disappointed in gamers for not supporting Soul Calibur VI. It's a great return to form for the series.
@Kidfried Not necessarily market saturation. I would say more a lack of interest from younger generations thanks to mobile devices.
@get2sammyb Kingdom Hearts 3 May do something otherwise.
