Cyberpunk 2077 2018 06 12 18 010

The hype for Cyberpunk 2077 has been bubbling for months, if not years. When it was revealed that a lengthy gameplay demo was shown to members of the press behind closed doors at E3 2018, people were desperate to get their eyes on it -- ourselves included.

But developer CD Projekt Red kept quiet on the matter. Incredibly positive previews were published around the web, and anticipation reached fever point as Gamescom 2018 kicked off. At the German event, there was a hope that the title may finally be shown to the public. That didn't happen either, however.

Then, out of nowhere, the Polish studio broadcasts a mysterious livestream on Twitch. For around eight hours, the stream was nothing but lines of code, but tens of thousands of people still tuned in to check it out. Of course, all of the teasing eventually led to a full reveal of Cyberpunk 2077's 48 minute gameplay demo.

Impressively, the number of viewers kept rising. By the time it was over, the stream had been viewed by almost half a million people. According to data tracked by GitHyp, 459,293 concurrent viewers watched the footage live, making it the most-watched Twitch reveal of any game this year. Even more impressive is that Cyberpunk 2077 is now the seventh most-watched game on Twitch in 2018. That's pretty crazy.

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be huge, isn't it?
