Today in Things Nobody Asked For, there's a Monster Hunter film going into production later this year. Now that he's (probably not) done with the Resident Evil movies, director Paul W. S. Anderson is busy adapting another Capcom franchise for the big screen. We can't see it being anything other than a disaster, but at least we might get some reasonably fun Hollywood schlock out of it.
Supposedly, the Monster Hunter flick will have a budget of around $60 million, and Resi star Milla Jovovich will be involved. Stick to what you know, eh?

You mean this should be bad...right?
Of course he's cast his wife.
Sounds delightfully terrible. Excited.
@AFCC #sarcasm
If it's as good as Resident Evil then I look forward to catching the first forty minutes of it on Netflix before I turn it off and go back to enjoying myself.
They should make an R rated Dragon's Dogma. It could be a pawn movie.
Oh dear. While they're not quite Uwe Boll levels of bad, the Resident Evil films were still legitimately terrible as adaptations (and mediocre as original films).
At least Tomb Raider was pretty good.
Agreed hell cast his wife in some way is this all this guy does is game adapted films. Yes he gave us AvP which was ok ish then rest were crap only decent film I liked from him was Event Horizon and Mortal Kombat 1 was actually ok for what it was compared to the others that followed it.
Last I heard this was supposed to just be some generic monster movie, and nothing like the actual Monster Hunter games. I'll pass.
The Resident Evil films do have some comedic value. This probably won't. Unless he casts his wife as a Jaggi.
@Neolit Fair.
lays down a Barrel Bomb L+ and blows self up
Old news, this was announced last year. It's supposed to be set in the modern day (at least partially).
Either way, I'm looking forward to this, you just KNOW it'll be laughably bad.
I dunno how to feel about this, will definitely be waiting for reviews before watching.
I know it's going to suck but I also know I'm going to watch it anyways.
It's a movie based on a video game, so I'll keep my expectations low.
Let me start by saying this is a terrible idea, much like the Resident Evil abominations and that it will be a very poor adaptation.

@Shellcore yeah I know mate! But i'm excited for this...Anderson is a genius, the Resi movies are all perfect scores for me and I hope this will be too #notsarcasm
I actually liked the first 2 Resi movies. The rest were terrible though yeah. Ill show myself out
I was laughing at how ridiculous the plot is, look it up and you'll see just how ignorant Hollywood truly is when making movies of IPs they refuse to learn about.
In a strange way I'm also curious..... to see how badly people rip on this joke of an abomination. Milla Jovovich is definitely getting a divorce after this sewage heap gets review bombed especially after everyone played MH World and know what it's really supposed to be about, and traveling to other worlds is nowhere near close to even being anywhere in the MH universe.
I guess that idiot husband of hers didn't even take the time to learn that MH takes place far, far into the future where a human ruled society isn't even remembered and the only historical civilization taught in the present day is the Wyverian civilization and how they created weapons, in many cases monstrous abominations, to slay the Elder Dragons, which ultimately destroyed their civilization and control over most of the world so now they live in balance with the monsters and elder dragons only hunting them when necessary.
If these morons would have at least done a little bit of investigating they could have worked with that and made a reasonable movie, but no, they just looked at a couple of images and threw some crap together.
Now we're just going to see Milla Jovovich in a movie fighting a Rathalos in a setting that has nothing to do with MH.
Sounds like some terrible movie idea that some amature director would throw up on the syfy channel for a quick cash grab, sad part is it will get attention and any attention for this crap is just a nightmare that will stain any future possibilities for A MH CG movie I've been hoping for, possibly similar to the MH4 opening.
@Derpie1 eats poisoned mushroom beforehand to make sure the job is done right lol:D
Stop stop stop! Ahhhh! No more offial video game adaptions - epscially when we know the director will destroy it already! Stoooppp!
@AFCC Sure you did ; )
On the movies, they did seem to have a weird charm about them, but, in my opinion, they fall under entertaining but not good. Like a McDonalds burger.
@malbhet Hoping the sequel has crossovers from Ryu, Sakura, Dante and Megaman. The new Avengers.
@Shellcore the first Resi movie is ok! The rest is more and more cringy...
Nice to see he's still keepin' it in the family. I actually liked the Resi films, and was always partial to Milla, so excellent news
