Despite the release of two relatively big PlayStation 4 titles, Sony's console refused to budge from its current position in the Japanese hardware charts. The PS4 is still stuck around that 25,000 units mark when taking both the standard model and PS4 Pro into account.
It's pretty much business as usual, then, but it's a bit disappointing to see Valkyria Chronicles 4 and Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom struggle to break any new ground. The former entered in second shifting 62,000 copies, while the latter only managed 56,000 copies in third. Relatively solid openings in this day and age, but we perhaps expected a bit more from these two anticipated games.

Let's hope Valkyria Chronicles 4 does better overseas.
I remember the first ni no kuni sells better in the west compared to japan.
@wiiware Yeah I believe it did. This one's done just about the same opening numbers in Japan but I imagine it'll have sold a good chunk more across North America and Europe.
@ShogunRok @wiiware It was down in UK, but digital data isn't included!
@get2sammyb is there a reason why digital sale figures ain't included anymore? I do know it had been included since last year December. Is it just an exception?
@JAMes-BroWWWn I think they're adding digital in next year for UK charts.
@Ralizah 60K plus is not so bad is it? But i hope it sells great here to i love it. 😀
BTW the Japanese have a terrible taste just sell them all pokemon games with every color from the Rainbow and your set. 😉
@munkondi BREAKING NEWS: Demand for XBOX ONE X soars in Japan as sales increase 1200% in the course of one month!
Ni no Kuni II sales are no surprise if you consider they were initially reluctant to do a Japanese release as the game was intended for the western audience. I'd say 56k is par for the course. I expected less since the game had very little marketing in Japan.
you guys keep forgetting japan is handheld land now if those 2 games were on a handheld it would have sold much more
Ughh, i won't say anything about 1st class Nintendo games like Mario Odyssey or Zelda, but mediocre games like Kirby and detective Pikachu doesn't shouldn't outsell nnk2 and vc4. Come on Nippon!
@tameshiyaku Kirby would like to have a word with you!
Kirby isn't your cup of tea, but it's of no lower quality than Mario, however Detective Pikachu doesn't even deserve to be on the same planet as Ni No Kuni II.
@Ralizah So I guess they sold an extra hundred units in Japan?
@ReanSchwarzer7 Kirby, daaamn! 😆
Also worth noting is that the first one was first release on nds and did well. On ps3 it didn't do nearly as well in Japan, but many attributed it to it being a remaster. This one has no excuse to be doing so badly. Such a shame...
I win!
Everybody must've still had their PS4 around when they bought Monster Hunter.
Valkyria Chronicles IV is coming to switch too! So it will sell a lot more.
Ni no Kuni is a bit of a disappointment
The saddest thing is that the new kirby game is mediocre at best....
I wonder if the real time action combat put people off NnK2. There was a huge backlash in Japan over DQIX originally being real time. It does seem Westernised in other ways too.
