In case you missed the news, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age finally has a release date here in the West. But Square Enix isn't just sailing the game overseas -- it's also adding several enhancements to the localised version.
For starters, the game will feature English voiceovers. In Japan, the title has little to no voice acting -- everything's just told via text boxes. Hopefully we get some typically fantastic British accents.
Next up, the Western release will boast a hard difficulty mode dubbed 'Draconian Quest', which will supposedly provide a steeper challenge for more experienced players. On top of that, the user interface is being overhauled so that everything flows better. Square Enix is even improving camera and character movement so that it's more responsive.
Last but certainly not least, there's going to be an added photo mode that'll let you take pictures as you go about your adventure. Sounds great.
Give the localised opening movie a watch and then let us know if you're hyped for Dragon Quest XI in the comments section below.

I'm chuffed. I was hoping they were going to do voice overs for the western release. I love the Dragon Quest games' voice talent.
This is fantastic news! This is my most hyped for game for the ps4 and so to see a release date that is actually pretty near plus that they are going the extra mile to give us a superior version that Japan got..with voice acting and extras is just the highlight of my day.
Day one!
Well that certainly looks better than the 8 minute game play video. Still, opening cinematics tend to look good. The first playable hour of FF9 on PS1 looked great too, for it's time.
Still, now I'm leaning towards NNK2 and even Ys 8 instead. Only so many hours for JRPG, and KH3 is still coming some day. Fingers crossed for that one this Christmas.
On the plus side, I never saw any mention of DLC or s season pass, so if this game comes complete that's an added benefit to get it close to or at release.
Rather have had it sooner and without English voice-over myself but really hyped to finally be getting this in the West regardless.
That's something that I really hated in DQ8, hearing Yangus calling you gov all the time just made me want to murder people.
The english voice over seems good, can't wait for this
Seems like a nice spot for a release. I've never played DQ before but I've been keeping my eye on this one. Depending on when Spiderman releases, this might be right in a spot when there's nothing else coming out that I'm personally interested in. Should also last me until until late October when RDR2 comes out.
Really happy about this announcement, finally! So many good games coming this year.
My most ancipated game apart from FFVIIR.
