In news that could only truly excite editorial director Damien McFerran, SNK has announced The King of Fighters ’97 Global Match. Despite the name, it’s scheduled to release in 2018 – sometime in the Spring, to be more precise. It's due out on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
As alluded, the headline new addition to this two-decade old brawler will be online play. There aren’t many other details available at the moment, but we’re sure the publisher will send us a press release at some point. Maybe.

I expect somebody's pay to get docked for that shot in the first sentence @get2sammyb.
I'm still waiting for a rerelease of '98, at least on PS4 anyway. It's on Switch and I have no idea when I'll get one. I'll probably look at this though. I need to expand my classic SNK library.
@Gamer83 Will be worth the fine! 😂
@DerMeister 98 is on PS4 just now, the arcade port anyway, arcade classics or whatever they're called, I bought it last week.
I really wish this site would do reviews for these Neo Geo/SNK games. There is a review for Windjammers, but nothing for Last Blade 2 and Samurai Shodown V Special. Anyways, I kinda wish SNK went with 98 on this one. Still getting it, and no point of getting the KOF 97 ACA game that’s already on PSN.
@DrClayman Sweet. Thanks for the info!
@shonenjump86
The lack of SNK love here is evident. KOFXIV is getting Oswald as DLC, Heroines is adding Nakoruru. Had to find out somewhere else.
@sinalefa yeah, I saw those too. Oswald should be cool.
@shonenjump86
I just checked and there are 3 more characters joining him on April.
@sinalefa now that I didn’t know. I hope one of them is Kasumi. She’s a favorite of mine in 96.
@shonenjump86 last blade 2 is so awesome! Id love to see them throw some money and truly reboot it!
Another game that most people just dont know but was miles ahead of the curve in at least the art/design aspect imo is Daraku Tenshi (the Fallen Angels)!
I adore the art direction in this! Amazing animation and backgrounds that looks like paintings! And the destructable foreground tables in the bar stage were so awesome! And the sound fx were the best!
I use to play the ROM on mame. Check out some vids!
@Gmork___ I still haven’t added you on my friends list. Try finding me on there when ya get the chance. PSN- shonen86. And yes Last Blade 2 is awesome.
