Destiny 2 has had to endure some pretty aggressive criticism from its players. Fans of the shared world shooter still aren't happy with the game's microtransactions, the lack of endgame content, and more besides. It's no wonder that Bungie has at last revealed that it will be talking about the game's future a little later this week.
Game Director Christoper Barrett took to Twitter earlier today.

Hopefully Bungie can turn things around as they continue to tinker with Destiny 2. The first DLC, Curse of Osiris, was met with a lukewarm reception, and fans are eager for change across the board. Who knows what the developer will say on Thursday; they may still be able to win back players and get back on the right track. They changed a lot that was wrong with the first Destiny, so there's every reason they can do it again.
What are your thoughts on the current state of Destiny 2? Are you interested to see what Bungie has to say in a couple of days? Fire your thoughts into the comments below.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
I find it easier to NOT play Destiny 2 compared to Destiny 1. I missed an entire week last week and I shrugged it off. I remember having a blast playing the game each week during the first year of Destiny 1--even Thursday was fun with Xur. It's like the hook is gone.
I saw somewhere a rumour that Destiny 2 was completed in something like 16 months once they changed the creative team behind it and that they had struggled in Destiny 1 to create content. It is an interesting point, if true, as it seems just weird that they released when they clearly weren't fully ready to support the game post launch.
I can't understand why they have gone from having Destiny 1 in it's final form, which was far better than it was when launched, and effectively reverted all the great changes in Destiny 2. It's like they want to follow the same pattern that Destiny 1 went through to make them seem like heroes for improving their game systems and make it look like they are listening to fans, when actually they had it all planned out in the first place.
Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved Destiny 1 and played it to death but Destiny 2 just doesn't have the same appeal and feels like a step backwards.
Oh man, they have got a mountain to climb! While the Destiny community is pretty toxic and full of whiny over entitled whingers, there are some genuine problems they need to address, and fast.
If that article about them not being able to produce new content because "its too difficuilt because of the game engine" is true then oh boy, that is shameful.
I dont envy them at all, hopefully they'll deliver some much needed good news on Thursday.
Oh scew Bungie for everything they’ve done w Destiny 2...
Amazing how the Brilliant mastermind company behind Halo managed to pretty much fall into rock bottom in terms of rep...
I feel like with Destiny all we hear is the same stories over and over again.
@Simon_Fitzgerald I never liked Destiny i think because everything is chopped up. I think this would a great game with a big story with drop in drop out coöp. And keep the multiplayer as it is.
@itshoggie that sounds like you just described the whole Destiny 2 endgame actually.
Btw, anyone know what the player numbers are nowadays for Destiny 1? It'd be amusing if the community went back to it en masse.
I enjoyed the game before this controversy, and it hasn't really changed my feeelings towards the game. I get what I want from it. Granted I play it in a very casual way with friends, so it's more of a social thing for me.
Having said that, if they can't add more content in the future, that will become an issue for me and my friends eventually.
Me and my clan diverted on the Division... such a better game it became... Bungie should learn a lesson or two from Massve Entertainment
@arnoldlayne83 The Division was a turd when it launched and only now, a few years later is it really good. They took a while to get it right same as Bungie.
i thought that year 1 was the best period for destiny personally, after the dark below dlc dropped. in my opinion it got progressively worse from the house of wolves onwards..
@shafedog247 with few differences:
1) Every dlc in the division did not make the rest of the game obsolete
2) they released free content for everyone and did not lock activities behind dlc purchases.
Plus, at the moment, the amount of possible meaningful activities in the endgame double destiny ones
I stopped playing it mid October as there was nothing much to do, and very little to play for; it doesn't seem like much has changed since then. I took it off my PS4 to make room for other stuff anyway, so...
They absolutely ruined the game, they created some great looking assets and the mechanics are still good within the new boundaries of their limiting gameplay attitude. They need to overhaul almost every aspect of the game.
@Futureshark the player numbers are still apparently fairly high but always declining and mostly playing PvE, the numbers don't really matter its really how many hours those players are actually playing, I log in most weeks but the last month less than 10 hours total, fiest month of D2 200+ hours
@Bliquid the D2 cover art was a big pile of dog sh*t
@gmxs wrong, not over whiney or entitled, the game is ruined as is, the numbers playing the game are severely declining every single week, they're speaking for the millions that quit
@arnoldlayne83 I agree to a certain extent but you were also left behind if you didn’t have the season pass when the first DLC’s dropped. The launch issues with The Division have some parallels with Destiny’s. I remember The Division promising some missions in the first DLC that were not there. That said, The Division as it is today is vastly better that what is was when launched.
@shafedog247 That seems to be a trend with some of Ubisoft games of late. Release them in a poor state and then slowly improve them.
@WanderingBullet honestly it’s not just Ubisoft. I have some VR games that were just okay at launch but after the 5th or 6th patch they are much better. I can only assume it’s easier to meet a launch date and then fix issues post release. Not the best trend for sure.
