Death Stranding PS4 PlayStation 4 1

We’re a little bit torn on Death Stranding right now. It’s been a year since we last got an update on Hideo Kojima’s madcap PlayStation 4 exclusive, and part of us is gagging to see more. But we can’t help but feel it would be really cool if Sony and Kojima Productions resisted the urge to reveal more, and just released the title one day as a big fat surprise. Could you imagine?

Either way, hopes of a new trailer at The Game Awards 2017 have increased, after organiser Geoff Keighley confirmed that both Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro would present awards. They’ll be accompanied by big names like Felicia Day, Aisha Tyler, and Zachary Levi – but we’re assuming none of those have games to show. Kojima does, dammit!

The title’s clearly still a way away, with work only really beginning in earnest earlier this year, but considering Kojima has opted to use Guerrilla Games’ excellent Decima Engine, we have to imagine good progress is already being made. There were rumours that Emma Stone will be joining the title’s cast – maybe it’s time to reveal that?

Update (17:00 GMT): Norman Reedus, one of the stars of Death Stranding, will also be at The Game Awards 2017. Make of that what you will.
