We’re a little bit torn on Death Stranding right now. It’s been a year since we last got an update on Hideo Kojima’s madcap PlayStation 4 exclusive, and part of us is gagging to see more. But we can’t help but feel it would be really cool if Sony and Kojima Productions resisted the urge to reveal more, and just released the title one day as a big fat surprise. Could you imagine?
Either way, hopes of a new trailer at The Game Awards 2017 have increased, after organiser Geoff Keighley confirmed that both Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro would present awards. They’ll be accompanied by big names like Felicia Day, Aisha Tyler, and Zachary Levi – but we’re assuming none of those have games to show. Kojima does, dammit!
The title’s clearly still a way away, with work only really beginning in earnest earlier this year, but considering Kojima has opted to use Guerrilla Games’ excellent Decima Engine, we have to imagine good progress is already being made. There were rumours that Emma Stone will be joining the title’s cast – maybe it’s time to reveal that?
Update (17:00 GMT): Norman Reedus, one of the stars of Death Stranding, will also be at The Game Awards 2017. Make of that what you will.

Told you say! Geoff and Kojima is a beautiful romance
Yeah I expect another vague trailer, starring Emma Stone this time. Weeks of speculation and trailer analyses will follow with people trying to line up all three trailers, looking for hidden clues and linking it to the pyramids, aliens and the death of president Lincoln
Just seen Norman Reedus will also be at the show, too. Surely more Death Standing now?
I wish the Death Stranding stuff was done at PSX, it is a PlayStation exclusive after all.
Haven't bought into the hype yet, sadly. Find it hard to get excited over super vague trailers because I'm old fashioned/a snob.
@YummyHappyPills I can confirm it's not a Zelda game either.
I’m oozing oil in anticipation!
Who cares what it actually is? It's a bonkers Kojima fever dream. That's enough for me.
I wonder if they’ll actually show anything fir death stranding or if keighly is just calling in all of his celebrity favours to get as many viewers as possible
I expect a proposal from Geoff at this point. He'll be at Kojima's bedside by the end of the month
I hope it's like scifi metal gear solid, I can't wait
@YummyHappyPills I heard DS is a card game
@YummyHappyPills Then I recommend they sit tight and wait for gameplay videos.
What's the point in complaining about it? I don't get it.
@YummyHappyPills 18 months. It's really not that long.
Hmm is this reason enough to stay up and watch...?
plus Norman
yeah boy
@YummyHappyPills I see you can use some Happy Pills. You're so salty for no reason.
MGS5 was all gameplay, by the way.
I enjoyed last year's trailer a lot. I'M ALL HYPE!
@get2sammyb or an all new walking dead game. 😶
If it wasn't for Kojima being behind this game I'd have precisely 0% interest in this game so far...
I'd be completely ok if we keep getting one trailer a year as they're are seemingly doing.
Should be interesting, Kojima is such a huge snob but I do love MGS 1 to 4.
I love every kojima game. Even the so called rubbish ones.
Death Stranding will be the best game ever!
In 2024.
@viciousarcanum agree!
Biggest news: I get to see Aisha Tyler again! I would love to see her host a press conference again in 2018...
Death Stranding is Kojima’s chance to rub Konami‘s face in it. I imagine he’ll try his best to make it epic.
not gonna hype for another teaser trailer. But if they manage to show some real content of the game. I'll be stoked!
@get2sammyb
It does smack of the "autuer" issue where a "visionary" gets sole credit in the public eye for producing something under a system with collaboration, filtering and editing (George Lucas : Star Wars, Wachowski Sisters : Matrix, Kojima : Metal Gear) and then subsequently being given completely free license by the suits to go batship crazy. (Star Wars Prequels, every other Wachowski movie, Death Stranding)
Whether it's good or bad, I have a feeling it will be memorable.
