Call of Duty: WWII started strong – and it’s held strong. Activision’s first-person shooter has registered the highest selling second week of both 2017 and 2016 in the UK, suggesting that the switch to historical warfare was an astute one from the publisher. Elsewhere, evergreen favourite FIFA 18 leapfrogged Assassin’s Creed Origins into second, while newcomers Need for Speed: Payback and Sonic Forces settled for spaces inside the top five.
There’s not a whole lot to see elsewhere in the charts; Gran Turismo Sport maintained its position in the top ten, but it is starting to slide now. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus dropped from sixth place all the way down into 14th position, while Destiny 2 is looking really weak these days, isn’t it? Bungie’s shooter is currently resting behind Fallout 4 in 25th place. Of course, we should stress that none of this data includes digital sales, which are becoming increasingly important.

That's a depressing top 10. Just churn out sequel after sequel, every year and watch the money print.
This specific franchise could be good or bad, could have great or poor single player campaigns full of cliches... it could have broken servers for days and days or be based on a real conflict without even trying to recreate the real feel of it....doesn't matter...it will still print money.
I do not really get it.
@arnoldlayne83 Not true really. People, for whatever reason, really took a disliking to Infinite Warfare and it paid the price. It still did well, but relative to its own series' success, it was a bit of a flop — hence why you could buy it for £12.99 prior to Xmas.
Also, I really don't know what you guys expect to see in the top ten at this time of the year. School Girl Zombie Hunter? C'mon!
What new IPs launched last week that have been tragically overlooked? I can't think of any...?
Welp Doom flopped. Surprising no one.
Destiny 2 though...
How the mighty have Fallen .
Still looking forward to picking it up eventually.
@get2sammyb Wolfenstein 2?
True about infinite warfare (I agree with you that campaign was way better than this year's one).
I am still thinking about Titanfall 2, a pure gem that bombed hard (and sold considerably less than Cod:IW)
No surprise regarding Doom for Switch. It is very tipical that Nintendo fans cry for new games on their console and then they just ignore everything that does not have Mario or Zelda in it...
So many awesome games have released earlier this year (most of them sequels ) and sold well that don't think anyone should begrudge sports and racing games charting highly this time of year. They do every year, and if people enjoy playing them then I can't say it bothers me one way or the other.
@JoeBlogs Touché. Who knows what might have been released this month were the market not so risk averse and wary of new ideas.
@BLP_Software I feel like you're kind of overdoing your fake hatred of Nintendo. Did someone threaten to ban you for liking them or something? That's the only real reason I can think of that you'd constantly bash them even though you actually like them.
Doom was always going to struggle considering it was full priced compared to other versions and it's an old game.
@BLP_Software I'm pretty sure you said as much a couple days ago. Something about how you're not allowed to be positive about Nintendo here or something along those lines.
@get2sammyb “we should stress that none of this data includes digital sales, which are becoming increasingly important” Which is also starting to make these sales charts articles become more and more irrelevant unless the digital sales are also incorporated in. Is that something you are going to include in the near future? That way we will see what games has actually flopped or sold really well.
@MaccaMUFC We can't. It's down to Chart-Track to do that.
@get2sammyb They need to get with the times, we’re moving into the digital age these days, as you say digital sales are becoming more important now and Chart-Track only tracking physical sales is becoming out-dated and is not giving us an accurate idea on how well a game is selling as a whole, both physically and digitally. For example Wolfenstein 2 is 14th in the charts according to Chart-Track but if digital sales are factored in, it could actually well be in the top 10.
