Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have got off to a flying start in Japan, where the two games topped the software charts with ease. Of course, being a PlayStation site we're not going to delve into the details, but honestly, there's not much else to talk about. Star Wars Battlefront 2 made it into the top five, but only managed to shift a meagre 39,000 copies on Sony's system.
The latest Dragon Quest X expansion also entered the charts across PS4, Switch, and Wii U, but it didn't really have too much of an impact.
Meanwhile, the hardware charts are looking pretty familiar. The standard PS4 model dropped below 20,000 units, but the PS4 Pro picked up the slack, shifting around 8000 units.

Star Wars looks like it's down massively on the previous version. I want to say Battlefront 1 did pretty well in Japan, but don't have the data.
EDIT: Just looked it up: 124k.
Did skyrim not come out for psvr and switch in Japan?
Guess we'll be looking at discounts all round for Battlefront 2.
@YummyHappyPills Tbh I still think at least Pokemon didn’t have a pre-controversy the closest thing I can think of is... the platform of choice because people are hating the 3DS more n more throughout this year xD it’s kinda hilarious...
Ik the marketing for it was bleh up til a point
Good. The less sales for BF 2, the better.
Looks like that Battlefront 2 is not selling well at all, interesting that games like AC Origins, Shadow of War, CoD and Destiny 2 are doing well.
Aside from the loot box drama, I feel there's a Star Wars fatigue. The Star Wars brand is not really that special anymore.
@Kidfried I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree, I cared for BF2 but after the Loot Box fiasco I have no intention of supporting it and off topic ,I don't even feel the slightest hype for Ep.8 The Last Jedi this year and certainly with Han Solo next year
Star Wars used to be special but it seems too much at a time is getting me franchise fatigue
A Pokemon game is dominating sales in Japan. In other news, water is wet!
US/UM just aren't grabbing me. I don't really care to return to Alola just yet. And, frankly, based on what @YummyHappyPills is reporting, I might never pick it up. While I enjoyed the increased difficulty in S&M, the sheer number of tutorials, dialogues, cutscenes, etc. really wore on me. Pokemon games are at their best when they let you explore and give you the feeling of being on an adventure. I don't feel like I'm on an adventure when the game rips control away from me every three steps.
"Journey to a Faraway Hometown Online"
That "Online" moniker for DQ10 is weird when it's right at the end of the subtitle.
@AzlanWake13 Yes. For the record I too wasn't saying this to hate on the franchise at all. I love the original trilogy and have fond memories of watching I-III and collecting the Star Wars lego later on. It just feels that the franchise is milked to make as much money as possible instead of being treated with the respect it deserves. Battlefront 2 and the cancellation of the other game are two unfortunate examples of this.
@Ralizah
7.8 - Too much water
The Switch has taken over! Good for Nintendo.
I much prefer the ps4, my son prefers the switch. Theres no doubt in my mind hes wrong but there you go.
