Square Enix has rather happily announced that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age has shifted over one million copies worldwide. That includes both shipped numbers and digital sales on PlayStation 4. Not too bad for a remastered PlayStation 2 game that's only been on the market for about three months.
When we reviewed The Zodiac Age back in June, we awarded it a big old 9/10. It's definitely the best way to experience what is, in our humble opinion, one of the best ever Final Fantasy games. Naturally, we're pleased to see that so many people have picked it up.
"Thank you to all the fans for helping us reach this milestone," stated producer Hiroaku Kato regarding the news. "We are overwhelmed with the response from both new players and fans of the original."
To celebrate the title's success, the publisher's released a trailer (which you can watch above), and environmental artist Isamu Kamikokuryo has crafted a lovely new illustration that features Larsa and the gang. We've embedded the latter below.
Did you contribute to this sales figure? Dare we ask if you're still playing through The Zodiac Age? Hop aboard an airship in the comments section below.

I would have thought they sold more already.
I have the steelbook collection, still in my backlog though since I want to play other games first.
It's on my to buy list. Will pick it up when I have some time to play it!
I got it and played it for only the second time - which is rare for me with a Final Fantasy - and I actually thought it was pretty good. I always thought it was the worst numbered Final Fantasy game of them all, but on playing it again, I'd probably say it's only the second worst.
Hated this game back in the game, but I'll give it another go if I can manage to get it cheap.
Maybe now we can finally get the FFXIII trilogy remaster?
@wiiware I have the steelbook version too but the only reason I haven't started it cuz I completely forgot I had it until reading this article! And even now I still won't find the time yet to start it.
@Fight_Teza_Fight I'm also still patiently waiting for a Final Fantasy XIII HD Trilogy on PS4.
Maybe announced Late 2017/Early 2018 and released by Summer/Fall 2018?
That would be 2 less PS3 games for me to worry about beating (I've already beaten FF13).
