Well well well, what do we have here? As spotted by eagle-eyed NeoGAF user oldmario, UK online retailer ShopTo has a product page for Street Fighter V Arcade Edition on PlayStation 4. Could Capcom be gearing up for a re-release of the highly divisive brawler? It's something that's been speculated since Street Fighter V launched last year.
The listing has the Arcade Edition down for a 16th January 2018 release. It's entirely possible that this could just be some kind of mistake, but for it to actually have a specific name definitely raises some suspicion. We could potentially see this being the 'definitive' edition of Street Fighter V -- all additional content and, we imagine, an actual arcade mode, included. What a selling point!
We've reached out to Capcom for confirmation.

If this is true then i want my money back jezus what a mediocre and stripped to bone game was this.
Or there won't be any arcade mode at all and they just stick to the same edition names as they did with SFIV
Didnt they say they werent going to do this?
Well...guess they gotta make a profit somehow.
@Flaming_Kaiser The rumour was that existing owners of the game will get any content added for free.
Imagine the chaos on the Internet if the arcade content wasn't free for existing users!
@get2sammyb That would be nice the game really was a letdown.
@Mad-Vampire The outrage would almost make Capcom's terrible decision worth it.
The rumours seems to be true. Existing owners will get this as a free update. If half of what I read about this arcade edition/season 3 is true then they will make it into a huge it..SFV in its currently "divisive" iteration is still by far the most streamed and populated fighting game out now.
If they do have a proper arcade cabinet in Japan then...Europe and USA are doomed at tournaments lol
@Feena I like to watch Street Fighter V but I gave up trying to play it properly a long time ago - I'm sure there are a lot of people out there with a similar story.
It's a popular fighting game for sure, but that doesn't stop it from
also being hugely divisive in general.
@ShogunRok I completely see your point and it surely is divisive, I'd say widely panned outside the fighting game community (that was why I used quotes) - a pity because it' s really easy to pick up, I hope they can win the casuals over!
This seemed to be on the cards for awhile (with data miners finding arcade mode and bonus stages) it's probaby coming next year to tie with season 3. There were rumours that Gil was going to be a MVC DLC character but Black Widow took his place. Maybe at PSX with Capcom they will announce season 3 fighters plus MVC's next load of DLC. My prediction for SFV are Sagat, Blanka, Nero, Gil, Sakura and Q.
@adf86 I'd love Gill return as the arcade mode boss (in SFV story mode we see the fall of Shadaloo and the rise of the Illuminati, so...)- would love if your pics are correct, I'd just pick Oro and leave Nero to MVC
@BLP_Software
And you believe them? Ono has lied so many times about it, saying since Super SFIV that there wouldn't be any more versions. And we got 2 more of that one.
I hope if true that we can upgrade. Highly doubt that it will be free though.
Hopefully, if this is true, this version will actually have character endings unlike, say, MvCI?
I will stick with Tekken 7, thank you.
@Feena Yeah I said Nero cause I heard rumours about him but I agree with Oro is better. Gil would be awesome like, would like to see C Viper back too.
I'll just stick with Injustice 2. It has this stuff called single player content. I know Capcom doesn't know anything about that.
My guess would be that the Arcade edition at retail will just be the box and an IOU sticker.
I jest of course. I also have watched a fair few matches but doubt I'll be getting into it anytime soon.
@adf86 uhh yes Crimson Viper and Rose make a lot of sense with SFV mechanics. p.s. there is a rumour we are getting Zeku (Guy's master) as the next dlc character at the end of the month...kinda fast.
Street Fighter V definitely has its problems, but it hasn't bugged me that much since I'm willing to play online matches from time to time. If this rumor is true and it's not free for people who own V already, then I got a problem.
@Feena Yeah I heard that, I had hoped it was Blanka judging from the silhouette but it most probaby is Zeku. Rose would be cool but do you not think she's too similar to Menat?
@Feena You'd hope that a re-release with an arcade mode, all the DLC, etc., would win a good amount of players over. To be totally honest it's probably Capcom's best bet at this point.
well if they give me the updates for free, then I'll be back to SFV
I was constantly on the fence about getting SFV, but if this is true, maybe I'll pick it up. Between Tekken, Injustice, KOF, and the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ, I could live without Street Fighter, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
@adf86 there are shades of Rose in Menat but much less than I thought , she has got that puppet master thing going on, Rose is more like a zoner so I'd say bring her back
I'd buy it. But I want EVERYTHING included and unlocked. All released content.
@Feena Alright cool, haven't seen too much of Menat but her design is great.
I would finally pick it up if it included an arcade mode and season 1 & 2 characters.
It's so weird. Fighting games used to be my favourite genre. Now I find myself not buying even Tekken, which was my favourite franchise for most of my childhood.
Maybe if the price is right, I'll buy this. I just need a lot of single player content.
@naruball I think if it includes arcade mode (it has to surely) then I think there's a decent amount for single players. With story mode (about 4 hours in length) survival mode and individual character stories which aren't great but it's something at least.
Count me in if it includes all the DLC released thus far
@adf86
I would love to see Gill as the final boss, hopefully less cheap than his Third Strike incarnation.
Also, when you say Nero do you mean Necro?
@sinalefa Opps my bad, yes Necro I meant. Yeah Gil was pretty cheap, especially with his resurrection like abilty, still he wasn't as cheap as any Shao Khan shudder
never spend a penny since the first day release, only got Ibuki as my new character from fight money and thats all.
My thought is that, as they are releasing this to make money, they won't offer it as a free update. After all you can pick up the base game used for £10 now pretty easily, so I fully expect this to be a paid update. It's not like it would be a shock given how they chose to monetise this game from release rather than release a complete game for that full price charge.
