Psychological thriller Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice secured an impressive debut on the PlayStation Store, charting top of August’s digital best-sellers list in Europe and second in North America. The mental health masterpiece was beaten only by Madden NFL 18, which understandably touched down in the top spot ahead of the start of the new football season.
Sonic Mania fared incredibly well in the New World, entering in third, but was forced to settle for eighth place in Europe – a potentially disappointing result considering the Blue Blur has always been popular in these parts ever since the Mega Drive days. Superhot topped the PlayStation VR list across both sides of the Atlantic, while Uncharted: The Lost Legacy placed highly in both regions, too.
One interesting anecdote: Crash Bandicoot continues to be a huge seller in the PlayStation Classics category in Europe – despite the recent PS4 remaster being a big seller in these parts as well. Man, I haven't purchased a Madden game since the Sega Genesis. I did add Hellblade and The Lost Legacy to my backlog though. I guess I should play them instead of complaining about Destiny crashing on my Pro.
Interesting that Undertale topped the Vita charts in the U.S. but didn't make the top 10 in the EU.
Glad to see Hellblade do well, i was worried it'd be lost in the sea of more well advertised retail releases but clearly its good reviews have helped it stand out of the crowd. I'v always loved Ninja Theory's games, Enslaved and DMC in particular.
@lacerz I had the game pre-ordered and was looking forward to it, but when they released the beta and it constantly crashed on my Pro I had to cancel it. I rented the game yesterday to see if anything changed. Nope. First a freeze, the game crashes, and then my system runs like crap until a hard reset.
With over a million players and a with an issue that is effect maybe a few hundred I don't see them patching it any time soon. I've seen somethings where turning HDCP, Boost Mode, or resolution down, or playing on a non-4K TV, or reinitialising the system worked for people, maybe that will work for you, assuming you didn't try it yet or course. It didn't work for me.
Short of a new PS4 Pro I don't think I'll be playing Destiny 2 in PS4 in 4K. That's the only thing I haven't tried, for obvious reasons. But I've even heard that the a few bundled Destiny 2 PS4 Pros were prone to this. It's a silicon lottery and I knew this when I bought a Pro, but it's a little disappointing. I thought I was a bit luckier than that or at least I thought I was due some good luck!
I can certainly empathize with this, and I hope you get this sorted out!
I'm glad for ninja theory, since it has been proven $30 single story indie AA games can be successfull in playstation market, I hope other devs follow suit.
Welcome back Sammy! Well done Hellblade, though my feelings were mixed I liked the price point and what Ninja Theory did. I hope other developers follow suit.
@lacerz same here haven't played a madden game since madden 92, I enjoyed it but never felt the need to purchase or play the series again. As for D2 that sucks, not played my pro for about 5 weeks due work being done on the house. I may rent to see if it crashes on mine as I hear a pro and 4k tv are the worst mix for crashing. Again with Hellblade and lost legacy these games will be a shoe in for me when I'm up and running hopefully in the next week or so.
Haven't got to play hellblade yet but I'm super pumped to. Am waiting to get a good set of headphones because I can't use my PX5s on my PS4 slim. Thanks Sony. Glad to see it doing well and hope to see more of this type of game in the future.
We can see that we have the madden mobile hack here and it is just what we all want.
