At the beginning of the month, Bungie migrated existing Destiny accounts over to Destiny 2 in preparation for the sequel's launch in September. Returning players can claim exclusive emblems and import their Guardian, or Guardians, from the first game.
However, the developer has stated that it has no plans to allow for the customisation of characters brought over from the original Destiny. In other words, you won't be able to tweak their base appearance -- their race, sex, hair, facial features, and markings can't be altered. A bit of a shame if you've been sticking with a Guardian that you don't really like the look of all this time.
Are you unhappy about this? Were you hoping that you'd at least be able to get a haircut? Regret your character creation choices in the comments section below.

Is the character creation in D2 more in-depth or is it still the same as D1?
Wow they're just making Destiny 2 more and more enticing...still think it's gonna have a hard time comparing to Anthem if Anthem delivers on its promises
I loved my characters' appearances in the original, so this doesn't affect me, at least not as long as they haven't added any new customization options.
Looks like they have their fans best interests in mind. Just as always.
My helmet never comes off, so whatever. My guy looks like Joey Essex.
Will be changing mine anyway. I'll migrate mine over and after a the initial missions just delete and restart
Simply they are telling us not to import our character and start a new game and forget about Destiny 1
Ha ha...I haven't played for so long (after playing it religiously the first year), I've forgotten how my characters look so this is fine.
Who cares. Get a life. Not worth complaining about.
@bliquid its just irritating that the site positions the news to open flood gates. Obv everyone is gonna come here and chime in. Hopefully sone ppl reas this and realize theres a reason for it and its not worth complaining about or saying typical bungie etc
Oh well, hair today, gone tomorrow.
@Broosh think anthem will be good love robots and exo suits, but think its more of a solo game with opt im coop , more focus put on that than mmo style thay destiny is.
This will be my last foray into destiny , if they dont get the formula right this time Im done. An only going back because of all the effort I did put into the first one and some of the fond memories I do have for it.
This is why you should always spend at least half an hour creating your characters in games. I love me a bit of cc.
No problem here; I just go for the generic option as it gives me an extra 30 minutes killing things
I was unaware you could import your old characters, which is pretty sweet. But sadly my exo looks like a freak... I WILL NEVR FORGIVE MYSLEF
@Rudy_Manchego more or less Groucho Marx lol
@Mikethemosher "Hopefully sone ppl reas this and realize theres a reason for it"
Thats all fair and well but how about they advise their paying customers the reason for it? It would help people understand why they had to do what they had to do and thus stop any backlash.
This doesn't seem like a big deal. If you can't carry over any of your XP or gear, your appearance is the only thing left. And if you want to change that, why not just make a new character?
I have a theory as to why they did this. It involves SPOILERS for those who didn't play through the story missions in the beta, so be warned: maybe your imported guardian is the one who dies at the beginning. END SPOILERS
My first character (Female Warlock) ended up being the one I left behind. purely because of the dressing gown outfits .
I stuck with my second character, a female titan then finally the male hunter (both human)
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Ahhhh fank you!
@Broosh I've watched the Anthem trailer multiple times and I still have no idea what it's all about. It's a beautiful game with decent physics, but I have no idea what they have promised so far. Is there an article I missed explaining the what the core mechanics of the game are? If so, please provide the link I would love to get an idea of what I should expect.
@IndyColts87 yeah you got me there lol there's a lot on their plate if the gameplay of Anthem will in any way reflect that trailer. There's loot drops, multiplayer, suit customization, and uhh...jump jets and or flying? Who knows. I just mean if all of those things are reality it could be big. But it could also be no mans sky and flop totally xD At least Destiny 2 people know exactly what to expect.
@Broosh I hope it's good because it would move the shared world shooter genre forward in a very positive way.
@solocapers i really dont think this warrants an official response or comment. I think gamers need to take a step back a little bit and not raise a flag over every ask or detail theyre not keen on. This seems to me as quite insignificant. I bought D1 on day 1 and plat'd the game so i only want whats best too.
@Mikethemosher that's fair enough. To be honest I'm not that fussed either way personally however it seems a simple thing so why not just do it? It's only gonna annoy people heavily invested in the game and seem so simple to do.
