September 2017’s PlayStation Plus lineup is right around the corner, and after a great update last month with Just Cause 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry, everyone’s pondering what the next crop of PS Plus games will be. We’ve got you covered with our monthly PS+ predictions post.
When will September 2017’s free PlayStation Plus games be announced?
We’re expecting September 2017’s PlayStation games to be announced on Wednesday, 30th August. Obviously, we’ll bring you all of the news the second that it breaks.
When will September 2017’s free PlayStation Plus games release?
PlayStation Plus games always release on the first Tuesday in every month, so you’re looking at Tuesday, 5th September for next month’s crop of goodies.
What are September 2017’s free PlayStation Plus games?
Well, that’s what we’re here to discuss. New releases on 5th September include Knack 2 and (a day later) Destiny 2, but you’re not getting either of those as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription. The original Knack is a possibility we suppose, but putting it out for free on the same day as its sequel could cannibalise sales somewhat. Pixel art role-playing game Songbringer is also due out on the same day as we expect the PlayStation Plus games to release, and would be a good shout seeing as it’s been a while since we’ve gotten a brand new, launch day indie title as part of the subscription.
Which free September 2017 PlayStation Plus games do you want?
And now for the big question: what do you want? Are you hoping Sony dips into its archives once again like it has in recent months – or do you want to see it offer something all new as part of September 2017’s PlayStation Plus lineup? Is there a particular franchise or genre you’d like to see made available as part of the Instant Game Collection?
What free games do you want in September 2017’s PlayStation Plus lineup? Share some grounded suggestions in the comments section below, and we’ll be back soon with all of the news.

Wolfenstein would be a solid choice with the sequel coming a few weeks later.
Apart from that I would like to see a quality indie along the lines of Salt and Sanctuary or No Mans Sky, along with a decent AAA like Dark Souls II SOTFS or even a Titanfall 2.
I'd love for them to toss in a new game. It's been a while since we've gotten a game at launch.
Mass Effect Andromeda?
@THRILLHOU Wolfenstein is a bargain £3.99 on the store. It's a steal at that price, such a fantastic game.
The usual things I ask here for the sake of asking. JRPGs, [relatively] open world games, animesque 2D fighters and racing games preferably for Vita/PSP/PS1. On PS4, the same genres if they aren't on Vita/Switch or anything that can remap controls or at least doesn't most important actions to triggers for a change. XD
Speaking of PS Plus, I'm curious, what was this GTA 4 "giveaway" the other week? I saw it labeled "exclusive" and it offered two purchase options, one paid and one "free with PS Plus" (I describe it here because it's something I've never seen when registering monthly IGC titles). So I got the free one and it's now in my library, although I obviously can't try it and see if there's any catch. The store page thumbnail reads "full version" and what I added seems like one... but how come there's been such a big legit giveaway and I don't see it reported/covered anywhere? Or does nobody simply give a damn since GTA 5 came out? :V XD
Exactly the same answer I give to this question EVERY month!
I hope we get at least 1 AAA game and preferably a game I want and don't own - at least not on PS4 anyway. I would be OK with games like Killzone as that may reinvigorate the MP.
I can see Knack being offered as Knack 2 comes out this month too and maybe they will use it to push up interest in the 'new' game.
There are a lot of games I would be 'happy' with. However, historically, the chances are that I will be disappointed BUT if Sony follow up last month's games with a 'similar' line-up - especially as they are increasing PS+ prices, then maybe, just maybe I will be content with the offerings.
Its not as if I don't have games to play in the upcoming months. I still have the Lost Legacy to finish before Destiny 2 launches. If that game grabs me as much as the first, I won't want or have time to play any IGC games (may still add them to my queue though if they appeal. In October, I have Forza 7, Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein 2 and Assassin's Creed: Origins to keep me busy - although I may wait until November to play all of these. November has CoD:WW2 and SW:BF2 so the next few months are going to get very busy as far as gaming is concerned so IGC (and GwG) games are most likely going to, at most, sit in my 'download' queue.
As regulars here may know me, I do think that MS has laid down a 'good' marker for September - With games like Forza 5, Battlefield 3, Oxenfree and Hydro Thunder Hurricane so lets see if Sony can 'match' or beat that. I know a lot here couldn't care less what MS offer because they only have PS, also I appreciate that 'others' may have different opinions to me n what 'constitutes' a good month BUT I am purely speaking from my perspective and as an owner of both systems and both subscriptions too. I won't take it personally if you 'disagree' with MY opinion and share your opinion in a 'constructive' way, so don't take it 'personally' when I express my opinion either! If I think that Sony's offerings are weaker than MS's for any given month, that's not criticising the members of Push Square OR their choice of console - its just MY personal opinion!!
I would like to play an fps shooting game something to improve the pan plus games we get
Or maybe even any of the tom Clancy series games
@BAMozzy what you said makes a lot of sense
@ApostateMage Really? Damn. Didn't know it was on sale. I paid 50 quid on release!
I think it goes without saying that the next couple of months are absolutely packed with big AAA titles on all systems; and while Sony are all for pushing legacy AAA games, I doubt it'll be anything that's likely to step on any toes or potentially harm sales for upcoming titles - the Heavy Rain/Beyond twin-pack would be a decent candidate, seeing as it doesn't really step on any toes, and those sorts of games prove super popular when the price is right. Of course, it could be another third-party AAA title. Just Cause 3's approaching two years old now, so something similarly aged would be a good guess - Rise of the Tomb Raider (technically two years-old due to appearing on Xbox first), for one, has frequently had deep discounts and probably doesn't have much more sales momentum for Square to exploit, so it'd make for a good gesture.
Personally, though, as far as I'm concerned - I just want to get games I don't already own digitally - at least one month this year, I've had months where I've not owned only one or two of the six games offered.
I assume they won't give out anything that will compete with knack or destiny- so no shooter or platformer.
A souls-like would be interesting and I don't think they've ever given one away? A lego game would be a great plug. A singalong/music game may fit with their strategy to widen their audience...
I'm guessing you guys may get Amnesia collection - I got that with my Asian account this month. I would prefer a 'popular' game over an indie though - no tell tale though because they are boring - maybe we will finally get knack because knack 2 is out?
The indie offering will be Oxenfree as I bought it in a recent sale and Sony have an uncanny habit of reading my mind. Still, it's an absolute gem with a killer soundtrack so the more people that get to play it the better!
Give me some of the more abstract VR exleriences..the ones that I wouldn't part money for but would like to try 😉
@THRILLHOU don't think Wolfenstein will be on IGC this month it's in the sale atm
On a similar thought though I think Knack might be in there as the sequel is out that month
@Mega-Gazz they've given away Demons Souls on ps3 and Lords of the Fallen on PS4, so there's form for giving away soulslikes. Not that I'd be averse to more!
@GlynCR true. I was unaware that it was on sale when I made my first comment.
@THRILLHOU wouldn't mind seeing the old blood on there personally
Horizon Zero Down would be a good choice
I would like hyperdemension neptunia as a a choice. I would like to play it
Destiny 2
Maybe a nice open world game like skyrim or gta v, and to top it off add in something with a very defined story line. that would give us the pleasure of going around in an open world and playing a very gripping story
Diablo 3
I would really like payday 2 or any multiplayer game as more people would download it and would be very fun to play with friends
Really would like to see a game like mout and blade since that's on ps4 now for a while or a game like binding of Isaac
@paradox32 In the same month as Microsoft? Don't think so.
I personally think it could be Killzone. Might trick players into eyeing other new shooters like Wolfensteins and CODWW2, and maybe even put Horizon even further on the map. A family friendly platformer such as Rayman could also be the case. Or The Order 1886.
You know what I want from PS Plus? The option to opt out of IGC... It'd be so great to have to only pay for multi-player and discounts each month and not the IGC; it is absolutely pointless for me.
I love to see either bloodborne or Infamous Second Son because i think we need ps exclusive once in a while
How about overwatch
Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 or Call of Duty Black Ops 3
Parappa.
I wonder if this will be the month we finally get Knack...
GTA V, And Watch Dogs 2
i think Knack too, with the second being made at the moment it seems the right time
what i would like is Killzone Shadow Fall
Is Rainbow Six: Siege a possibility?
Amnesia Collection please.
"The End is Nigh"
Heard it here first.
If not, it will be a plus release later this year.
Awesome game with epic soundtrack!
knack to celebrate knack 2's upcoming release
I would like to get Borderlands the Handsome collection and Deception IV, but I know those are not what we are getting
I think it will be
Ratchet and Clank, Steep, Terraria,
Holy Second Son!
