There's been some speculation over Insomniac's Spider-Man regarding the age of Peter Parker. Does it take place when Peter is only just learning about his powers, or does it focus on a more experienced Spidey? According to PlayStation Access, the latter is correct. Peter's 23 years old in the game, and he's been fighting crime as Spider-Man for eight years.
In other words, this isn't an origin story - you're going to be playing as a Spider-Man who knows what he's doing. That explains his sweet moves in the latest gameplay trailer, we suppose.
How do you feel about this? Would you rather play as a young Peter only just getting started, or are you happier to see a more badass Spider-Man? Swing into the comments section below.

I think, at 23, Peter Parker should get a real job. I can understand shooting your goo all over the town at 16 but not when you are nearing your mid twenties.
That said, I'd rather have an established character. No more origin stories for Spidey!
My favorite game of E3
It's great that he's outta high school in this game. I feel like his post high school years don't get enough focus in other forms of media, especially since the comics threw him out of high school within the first 20 something issues. He may be known as the proverbial young superhero, but I believe the point of Spider-Man is for him to grow up.
23 is a pretty good age. He's older than usual, but still young enough to learn.
@Rudy_Manchego Can't tell if you mean him quitting being Spider-Man or what. Cause wasn't it confirmed he was a scientist in this game? That's kinda a real job.
I am glad its not an Origin story - its not like we haven't seen that, or don't know it by now...
Yeah this is an unexplored area for the most part outside of the comics. Not only does this mean it isn't an origin story, but he will also have an established history with the community as well as an established rogues gallery. We know this is during a period when Wilson Fisk is in prison, and Parker is trying to find the identity of Mister Negative. This lines up roughly with the Brand New Day run, which I think is a great period to jump on for a game. It is a back to basics run which was definitely welcome at the time. I think a few other well known villains will be featured, but Mister Negative will be the big bad. Much like the Arkham games, it seems like we could encounter any number of Spider-Man villains based on when this takes place.
@Rudy_Manchego 😂
@archaicking Nah I was just being silly and immature with the goo stuff. I thought he was a reporter? Though he did design those webshooters so he probably ought to be employed as a scientist.
@Elodin Ah thank you!
Phew, I think we're all bored of spiderman origin stories
@Rudy_Manchego yes, a real job, and his own place to live, pay rent, do shopping, laundry, house cleaning, dating, getting drunk, gaming, gaming while drunk... staying up late gaming while drunk, waking up with a godawful hangover to find all the lights on, the fridge door open and the dogs eaten the sausages and cheese and.. no, wait, forget it.
@nathanSF my dog once ate a big block of pecorino, I was impressed he kept it down FACTS
nope this is fine, Batman Arkham Asylum wasn't an origin story and it was brilliant
the character is well enough know even in the mainstream to know what his Origin story is so it's not needed
heck even Marvel know this hence why he isn't getting an origin story film
also who else wants to see other Marvel characters Cameo in it
I just hope we aren't forced to play as Miles.
Gee not bloody teenaged Spooderman for once.
Would be about time.
He graduated from high school in ASM 28 ( 1966)
and went to college in ASM 30 ( 1966)
He graduated college in asm 185 ( 1977 )
and spend a decade or so as an undergraduate. ( He dropped out somewhere in the late 80's )
In other words, he was 20 something college student for more then 20 years and well over 500 comics.
Yet for some reason, Marvel is obsessed with Spiderman being " young" and a teenager and having him stuck in high school.
