As the tagline of this article suggests, Dynasty Warriors 9 looks pretty much exactly like you'd expect it to - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The current-gen sequel's looking like a real step up as far as visuals are concerned, and the action looks as over-the-top as ever. You can get an eyeful of the upcoming release thanks to the title's very first gameplay trailer, which we've embedded above.
In case you didn't already know, Dynasty Warriors 9 is opting for an open world, which in theory means that we're going to have larger battlefields than ever before. China's a pretty big place, after all, so it's nice to see the setting finally getting the scale that it deserves.
How do you think the game's looking? Are you on board with its move to an open world structure? Leap off a cliff and smash into the comments section below.

Looking good so far, the lighting especially. I'm curious on how the open world will work.
The enemies look so much better than DW8. Better even than SW4 which is the very best Warriors game so far.
I really dig into the musou franchise, but while DW introduces new things SW is where the games get really good!
Can't wait for DW9 but mainly SW5!
While I'm more hyped for Fire Emblem Warriors, this does look rather impressive.
What's SW5?
Trying to find a way to send them my money now! This is the first warriors title in quite a while that has gotten me so amped up!! Trailer looks impressive!
@smythelove Samurai Warriors 5. Will likely be announced once Dynasty Warriors 9 has been released and it's been out for a while.
The open world definitely looks way better Tecmo's previous open world RPG, Toukiden 2.
I know this is weird considering all the great looking games already coming out in 2018 but

@ShogunRok Thank you!

Last entry was SW4 ... Which I still play from time to time. I know Warriors games get a bad wrap for being repetitive and pretty much the same year after year, but I still love them!!
