Looking at these new screenshots for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, it's a little difficult to believe that this is essentially a remastered PlayStation 2 title. Square Enix has released a bunch of fresh Japanese images, and the game's looking bloody good for something that originally released over a decade ago.
Anyway, the new screens show off just about every aspect of the game, from character models and environmental details to combat and cutscenes. Final Fantasy XII was one of the most visually impressive titles to ever appear on Sony's second home console, so it's great to see it somehow standing the test of time on PlayStation 4. We suppose a good art style is always going to weather the storm.

I still have my original PS2 game and it looks great but it's so blurry. In high definition it looks super.
I wouldn't call FFvii as a Remaster at all - its a remake!
@BAMozzy Yeah, they are remaking VII. XII: The Zodiac Age is a remaster, though. But it looks amazing.
The only FF that I never finished (not counting the MMOs). Looking forward to correcting that defect this summer!
I never finished the original, in part because I absolutely DESPISED the gambit system and the fact that none of the characters really had unique roles to play mechanics-wise. I've heard the updated version, especially the job system, fixes some of these issues though, so I might give it another shot.
@Jake3103 My mistake, I read that as 7 for some reason...
This shows that visual design trumps raw processing power.
It really does look good, but to be fair it always was one of the best looking games on the PS2. I'm pretty hyped for this, I have never fully completed for this and I think it's about time I'm gonna change that.
I wonder if this is coming to the ps vita.
