The latest Japanese sales charts are in, and NieR: Automata has jumped straight in at number one. The PlayStation 4 console exclusive sold well, shifting almost 200,000 copies. That's a lot more than most new releases manage in their first week. It was followed up by the new Super Robot Wars game in second and third, on PS4 and Vita respectively. Nioh, meanwhile, settled in fourth, selling another 17,360 copies. All in all, it's been a good pre-Switch period for Sony's home console.
The PS4 itself saw a healthy sales boost thanks to the new software, with the system breaking through 37,000 units. It's very safe to assume that the imminent release of the Nintendo Switch will knock the PS4 from its perch, but it's nice to see Sony's hardware continuing to do relatively well so close to the Switch's launch.

I bet 2B's Bum helped a lot.
At least Nioh is back on top 5 #NiohGOTYCompetitor
I'm not surprised. I figure Japan will eat this up.
Maybe it's the amount sold that's the surprise. It does look pretty impressive.
The time is Nier.
Single player game sell best on ps4, I hope platinum, yoko taro and square enix collaborate again for the sequels.
Good, the games great and I couldn't recommend it more.
Butts the violence?
Very strong PS4 sales, and 6 spots of the top 10 are for PS4 games. PS4 closing in on 4.5 million in Japan alone, and there are tons of games coming.
