Some of you may have seen bits of this footage used in the recent previews of other sites, but we reckon that it's still well worth a watch; the game looks bloody gorgeous. Showcasing combat and exploration, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom's first dedicated gameplay trailer hides a surprising amount of detail - especially if you sit and analyse the battle system. Needless to say, things seem very promising.
The switch to action-based encounters may not sit well with everyone, but after seeing the release in motion, it's difficult not to find at least some appreciation for the new approach. There's a definite slickness to it, and we're liking that characters seem to have so many special attacks and tools at their disposal.
What do you make of this gameplay? Are you excited for Ni no Kuni II? Command a small army in the comments section below.

Stunning, only vague interest I have in Nintendo Switch is Zelda but I think I'd rather wait for this. Hope they port the first game because I had no time to play it really.
Looking good as always, Level 5.
Cant wait, looking awesome
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Would love a pre-order deal which included a ported version included
That's rad!
I'd love to see a port of the prequel on PS4.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I really hope they port it as well. I still have it on PS3 but I'd honestly rebuy it for PS4. It was gorgeous, charming and a lot of fun. Honestly one of my favorite games of all time. I'm so excited for II.
Looks good, I can appreciate a well done action rpg. We've had a few good ones over the years, and more than a few bad ones. I'll have to work on beating the first one this year!
Looks beautiful, give us a port of the first one please Level 5.
Still wish they had kept the old combat system, but this at least looks promising. Seems they're going for an almost "Tales-y" feel.
Wow, that is some glaring graphical leap from over world map to dungeon. I think they are both ok, overworld map is a big imrpovmeent over the first game, but its just so jarring, going to take awhile to gt used to.
Hope the game has a better ending than the first, and people aren't as whiny. I do like the battle mechanic better, sidekicks and pets are better than playable things that need to be constantly fed and upgraded. Could be my Christmas gift.
This is just one of those games that makes you smile when you see it.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi It's worth a play through though, it's harder than I thought it would be too.
@naut Yeah and that's an interesting combat system.
@rjejr Yeah, tot a fan of the world map to dungeon transition. It's a relic from an era when it was done for technical limitations...
The art direction is wonderful, though. And I am glad they went all action for the battle system, at least it's a clear direction.
Boy, is that overworld pretty or what?
Can't wait for this. Level-5 never fails to impress me.
@Feena I love the transition. Not so much of the design of the characters they've gone for on the overworld mind you, but I love a world map like that. I love the sense of scale it gives you, makes it feel like you're in a huge world, but one that you don't have to spend forever traipsing across to get to your next destination. I get so bored of that in open world games.
@Feena "world map to dungeon transition"
Having to do it is one thing, but the graphics are just so different. Over-world map is a mixture of big chibi heads and and more realistic graphics, dungeons are cell shaded normal proportioned people and cell shaded backgrounds. It's almost like they switched the characters and the backgrounds into the wrong settings. Too many differences, just pick a style.
