Those scamps over at Square Enix think that they're clever, but we're onto them... Or so we think. Earlier today, it was brought to our attention that Trophies for upcoming PlayStation 4 remaster Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age are live on Sony's servers, and now Square Enix is saying that it has an "exciting announcement" planned for tomorrow. We wonder what it could be?

How good are the story and battle system for this game?
@Miles_Edgeworth For me, it's the best battle system of modern Final Fantasy games, I simply LOVE the gambit system and semi real time battles. Story-wise, I must confess it kinda stopped making sense halfway through to me, but that's always the case for me with big convoluted political plots in these kind of games. Didn't impact my enjoyment though, since I was too busy having fun hunting marks.
I disliked this game on release but I've had more than 10 years to think about it and I'm ready to give it another shot
@fchinaski That was the problem for me, until that point FF games had always had grandiose plots but they always made sense and you always knew exactly what you were doing and why. FF12 was lost on me.
@Miles_Edgeworth The story isn't great. It's largely underdeveloped and many of the characters feel inconsequential to the plot. I seem to recall that even the director of the game came out afterward and said he was disappointed with how the story turned out.
Gameplay wise, it depends what you like. It's like playing an MMO offline. If that sounds fun to you then you'll love it.
@kyleforrester87 i also hated it on release. Played it again a few years after release, absolutely loved it. Duno why i ever hated it aha
@kyleforrester87 Exactly, but in my case, like the original Final Fantasy Tactics, I was very much engaged until the end because of the sheer excelence of the gameplay. I'll try to pay more attention to the story this time around though, since I sure want to have a trophy to show that I DID slay Yiazmat, lol.

Didn' t like it when I replayed it in 2013.
So I doubt I' ll like it now, now its been run through the remake grinder.
@Miles_Edgeworth just to give you differing opinions - I honestly thought this is probably the most forgettable ff I've ever played. The gameplay is very mmo like but I personally hated it. I never got to finish it because right before the end, someone broke into my house and stole the ps2 with the memory card. Tried to replay the game a few years later, but just couldn't do it.
That said, most of the ff games since the ps2 era have very different gameplay styles that cater to different people. I personally loved the gameplay of x and xv which are totally opposite in every way. Didn't really care for the gameplay of xii or xiii, so it just depends on the style you like.

Isn't this year some sort of special anniversary for Final Fantasy games? I thought I read somewhere that Squeenix is planning on doing some event and reveals for the anniversary.

(personally, I'm hoping for a Final Fantasy XIII remaster).
This was the turning point of Final Fantasy for me where they started to become CG animes, and the quality of characters and story has never recovered. Brilliant game technically, and I loved the FFXI-inspired combat system, but the characters had zero charm whatsoever. I'd be willing to give it a second chance, but not sure.
I always wanted to play this but didn't own a PS2 way back when. If I can beat all the games in my backlog before then, maybe I'll get it at release.
Is it me or is anyone else excited about this? Final fantasy 12 is one of my favorite final fantasy of all time i will loose my mind with excitement if this happens OMG give me give me give me ROTFL LOL

Hehe I think you are probably right about it being ff12. Not sure if im excited or not yet. I love FF, but personally I liked 12 the least of all of the main line games. Will still give it another go though!

i didn't have any expectations for the game when it was released, to be honest.
I know I hated 10 with a passion. ( and still do )
So I was apathetic to FF 12 at best.
I might buy the rehash ...ahem remake, when it' s on sale but not sight unseen, for full retail.
Or whatever Square plans to charge for it.
And its not like I don' t have a massive MASSIVE backlog to begin with.
@KitsuneNight See, I liked 10 (though not as much as previous installments)..but was blindsided by 12's shift in tone. Same happened with 8 - I just expected something else after 7, and it didnt meet my expectations. Then I loved 9, as I prepared myself after 8. Hated 13, enjoyed 15. Weird!!

Absolutely hated 13 and it' s follow ups.
And i' m mostly indifferent about 15 so far. From what I saw about 15 doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.
But it' s a huge series with 15 main entries and even more sub entries.
It' s likely to be very diverse and polarizing.
Could be a classic Square switch-and-bait. You know, just leave some ffxii stuff out hear and... BAM! You got kingdom hearts 3 release dates all up in your grill.
I actually fully expect it to be KH3 news, since Marvel tweeted about expecting exciting news tomorrow as well, and each of those tweets came out at the exact same time, to the minute. Also Nomura said to expect more 3 news shortly after 2.8 releases, and...guess what just released?
Found out i could not get the final weapon of a character because i opened up a chest in the start of the game. I was 20 hours in and it made me quit the game not even a hint if you really wanted to open this chest. I felt annoyed and just stopped playing.
