Dragon Quest XI will deploy on the PlayStation 4 in Japan next year, Square Enix announced during a Jump Festa stage event earlier today. The sequel – which is also set to release on the Nintendo 3DS, albeit using a different engine and art style – is likely to have Sony rubbing its hands, as it will almost certainly be a big hardware mover in Japan.

The game is set in the vast world of Lotozetasia, and sees you assume the role of a young man from the quiet village of Ishi. You can get a good look at the long-locked hero in the opening movie embedded above, but it's the gameplay video below that you'll want to watch – both the PS4 and 3DS versions of this title are looking outstanding.
