This author has already decided to play through the entirety of Resident Evil 7 in PlayStation VR, so given it's one of the fuzzier titles we've experienced in virtual reality thus far, it's good to hear that Capcom will be supporting the PlayStation 4 Pro at launch. Thus far it's not sharing specifics, but it will have modes for 4K televisions and it will support HDR. The latter, of course, will work on all consoles following this week's firmware update, assuming you have a compatible screen.
In fact, it seems like the Japanese publisher is showing the PS4 Pro version at the Tokyo Game Show this week, as some screens have leaked of that particular version. Surprisingly, the title wasn't at Sony's press conference earlier, but the Mega Man maker has its own livestream scheduled, so we'll probably see lots more of this sequel over the course of the week.

All I hear is.........."please, pretty please, buy another 400 dollar console.....c'mon guys, 4 the Gamers, right?"
@sub12 I hear it has out of the box support for the pro en it still work on the PS4.
@Flaming_Kaiser
Duh it still works on the base PS4, and duh it will have Pro support.....that doesn't mean that all of this forced fed marketing mumbo jumblo isn't getting annoying.
@sub12 I'm not sure how you're jumping to that conclusion really. There's literally a demo for Resident Evil 7 on the PlayStation Store right now that you can play on a bog-standard PS4...?
It's nice to see all this support for ps4 pro, I think some games like the witcher 3 and ff xv need the pro for stable framerates.
I'm with @sub12 on this. Sick of this marketing push to try and make me get a new console.
All that it's actually doing is make me feel like I will be playing a sub standard experience on my old ps4 amateur.
@sub12 @chiptoon Just sold your old ps4 and buy the new one, like smartphone.
@chiptoon You will be playing a sub standard version on your old PS4. Sorry! lol
@get2sammyb
Which conclusion? I know it works on the base PS4.....that doesn't mean that this whole "two versions" idea that your indirectly selling for Sony is a good idea.
@sub12 Why's that, though? If you're playing it on the standard hardware you're getting the same experience you were always going to get. At the end of the day, if it bugs you that someone somewhere else is getting a better experience with their more expensive TV and PS4, that's a.. different kind of issue.
I'm planning on getting a Pro sometime next year even though I'll only be playing the exclusives but because I play multi platform games on XB1 S I'm wondering if anyone knows if non-exclusive XB1 games will be getting the HDR treatment?
@kyleforrester87
Basically all this is......is a ploy by Sony to line up their pockets with another 400 dollars by selling you a new console that offers the bare minimum in an actual noticeable upgrade. After all, they will be selling you that new 500 dollar PS5 come holiday 2018.
At least the Scorpio (I can feel the PS fanboys crying already) offers a next step up in the evolution of the actual hardware, rather than being the bare minimum for another 400 big ones.
Basically, Sony is a bunch of money hungry corporate pigs (as is Microsoft, but they are playing this one smarter for once).
@kyleforrester87 I think the issue is that this isn't '4 the players', this is '4 the profit'. Sony has made the 40 mil or so PS4 Amateur consoles owned by the faithful early adopters into 2nd class hardware.
I think this is a bad thing, not something to be celebrated.
@sub12 It's not a ploy though is it, it's a company trying to make some extra money via a sales pitch, and to be fair they are being pretty up front about it. "This is what it costs, this is what you get, do or don't" seems to be their message.
It's marketing - if you don't want to buy it, you don't need to.. But you shouldn't let it make you feel like what you have is inferior.
@chiptoon the "4theplayers" thing..also marketing friend, to get you on a PS4 from a PS3, even though there were plenty of cross-gen games at the time. It's not something that was written once in a holy book that Sony are now exploiting for personal gain..
@sub12 My hope is that when the PS5 eventually appears, Sony will get the smack down they deserve. I certainly will not be buying one at launch.
But it probably won't happen. While many gamers laugh or complain about mobile games, the mobile world has still trained them to accept the iterative upgrades that create such profit for companies.
@kyleforrester87 you are quite right about 4ThePlayers just being marketing. Kind of my point. Sony mad use of a situation at the beginning of this gen to create an impression of what they stood for. The goodwill of that time continues to carry them now. How long will that continue?
@kyleforrester87
It's crappy marketing and a greedy corporate choice, glad we agreed on that.
@sub12 We shouldn't report on the advantages/disadvantages of PS4 Pro games to our readers who may want to know that information? Is that what you're suggesting?
I suggest you avoid articles with PS4 Pro in the headline moving forwards, because there's going to be a lot more of them. People want this information judging by the views and engagement the articles are getting...
@chiptoon It's unfortunate you feel that way. Having said that, I think Sony's bent over backwards to try and keep the original 40 million PS4 owners feeling happy — and you could argue, as a result of that, it's undersold the PS4 Pro.
I guess, ultimately, the only way it could have avoided this scenario is by not making the PS4 Pro at all. But in an alternate universe where the new hardware doesn't exist, all of your games would look and play exactly the same on the standard PS4 hardware as they will in the world where the upgraded console is available.
I guess what I'm saying is, you're still getting the exact same things that you always would have got — the only difference is that you'll know that someone's got something slightly better.
At some point, it's down to you to deal with that.
@get2sammyb
Your PSVR and Pro coverage is like 90% advantages and 10% disadvantages......unlike NL, you guys don't even say a breath of Nintendo or Microsoft.
We all live in happy go-lucky Sony world, let's not have a disagreeing viewpoint, we can't have that.
@sub12 There is no reason we shouldn't be excited (or at least optimistic) about new PS hardware. In my view there is enough general negativity on the net about pretty much every aspect of gaming so it's nice to see a positive view. Personally I don't want to see 100+ comments of crying and moaning.
Disclaimer: I appreciate I'm cryin and moaning with this comment

@kyleforrester87
Nope, disagreeing views make the world interesting. We don't need a bunch of mindless Sony fanboys walking around here like the zombies from Resident Evil 2.......get yourself a shotgun to the face.
@kyleforrester87 Completely agree!!!
The PS4 Pro will 'enhance' the experience. If you are happy to play at the 'same' standard that's been available since Day1 (essentially) then you don't need to upgrade at all. All the same games/features etc will still be available to you. If you want to play all these games with enhanced visuals and/or frame rates, then buy the PS4 Pro. Some games on a 1080p TV will benefit more than others with native 1080p visuals - BF1 for example which runs at 900p on PS4. Whatever console you have, you can still play ALL PS4 games and if you have a HDR TV, even have HDR visuals.
What Sony have done is build a console '4 the gamers' - not one for the media buffs.
@chiptoon The PS4 WAS the best console on the market for 3 years. Its hardly second class with the addition of the PS4 Pro version. It still runs games 'better' than the competition can run them so does that make XB1s third class? Should PS4 owners actually be 3rd class because PC gamers have much higher resolutions, frame rates and overall visual presentation?
You were 'happy' with the performance capabilities of the standard PS4 before so why has that changed? Its not like 'Pro' gamers will have 'extra' or 'exclusive' content. Sony realise that the market is changing. More and more people are upgrading to 4k and HDR TV's. This upgrade offers those gamers an experience to match.
Sony are NOT the first to add an upgrade to the existing standard. At least this time though, they are protecting the original owners as other hardware upgrades were required for certain games to run. I didn't feel 'superior' when I had the N64 and its Expansion pack and enjoyed an enhanced 'visual' experience over the standard N64. I know that as time moved on, some gamers couldn't play games or features if they didn't own the pack but Sony are preventing this situation arising.
I only bought my PS4 20months ago. I wasn't one of the first and have more reason than some others to be 'upset' BUT I embrace the fact that Sony are improving my gaming experience, enabling me to play the latest games with visual enhancements and/or more stable frame rates. These games were ALWAYS going to play the way the standard PS4 will handle them whether they opted to make the Pro or not. If the standard was 'first class' 3 years ago, the Pro is just 'First Class+'.
Technology moves on though - its not static! 3 years ago, what was considered as the 'best' is eclipsed by the next years developments. Last years 'Titan X' $1000 GPU, is effectively replaced by a $400 GTX1070 - that plays games 'slightly' better - let alone the top end GPU's. The GPU inside the PS4 is effectively nearly 5yrs old - essentially a Radeon 7870.
You have a choice, either upgrade to the new hardware enabling you to play exactly the same games your 'old' hardware will offer OR stick with your existing hardware and continue to enjoy the games at the same level as you are used too, at the same level the original 3yr old console was always destined to play these at!
@sub12

You know nothing about Scorpio. Nobody knows anything about Scorpio. There has been no official reveal of the specifications. You're making up that statement. It won't release before winter 2017 which is a long time from now. Did you forget what happened when Sony released a $499 and $599 console? Sony has to keep the price as low as possible or else they'll get into the whole PS3 situation again which is a bad idea. I think it's safe to say that you're a troll.
@Devotion
I may or may not enjoy trolling people such as yourself.
Thanks, but no thanks. I'll be enjoying my regular PS4 until the PS5 comes out.
@get2sammyb
I actually pre-ordered the PS4 Pro today, shhhhhhh!, don't tell the kiddos on here.
