We've absolutely no idea why Gravity Rush 2 is being treated like the black sheep in Sony's first-party portfolio; in addition to Horizon: Zero Dawn, the title has shown incredibly well with each new trailer. And this TGS 2016 clip is no different, teasing the origins of heroine Kat, as she takes to the stage in a glamorous dress and belts out a beautiful tune.
The trailer confirms that we'll be returning to Hekseville in the sequel, and it's looking absolutely stunning rendered using the native power of the PlayStation 4. This game's got a very different vibe to the various other upcoming open world games announced, and we sincerely hope that it finds its audience, because it's looking really, really good in our opinion.

I hope the free remastered comes outside of japan
@SKC_Diamond I think they'll do it to be honest. It's basically the best possible marketing this game could get. Plus, I think the usual whiners would be really happy to get a game like Gravity Rush Remastered with PS Plus.
Fantastic game.
Watched this earlier, brilliant trailer. Hopefully Sony makes a bigger push for it closer to its release date, as it looks stunning.
@get2sammyb actually looking at the store listing its 50% off I might just get it now
Nice to see something good come out of Sony's TGS. Also a really good trailer, very different to all the previous ones.
Nicee, still undecided between buying region 3 special edition (no steelcase, there's animation bluray disc and soundtrack dlc) or us digital version.
Definitly hope there's ps4 pro support, maybe 60 fps gameplay can be added.
Cannot wait for Gravity Rush 2 & The Last Guardian.
This would look amazing in 4K HDR.
Just finished remastered after getting it on sale, can't wait for this.
@get2sammyb "We've absolutely no idea why Gravity Rush 2 is being treated like the black sheep in Sony's first-party portfolio"
Not sure if that was rhetorical or not, but after watching this trailer I have a few ideas.
First, I'm not familiar w/ this franchise at all so I have no preconceived notions. And after watching that trailer I have no idea what's going on. It's some weird mixture of on rails anime cell shaded shooter "Sin and Punishment" and photorealistic looking open world Bioshock Infinite. I don't know if there was any game play in there. I can't even tell if i's 2D or 3D. Could be a fighting game, point and click, I really have no idea. "Azura's Wrath" does come to mind, but w/o the wrath, "Azura's Nights into Dreams" maybe? If you told me this were a trailer for BG&E 2 I'd believe it.
So since Sony likes pushing games like Uncharted, Horizon and God of War alongside games like COD I can easily imagine why they would not be marketing this one as they have no idea how or who to market it to.
After typing all that I decided to go find out more about the game.
Oh, it's Bayonetta 3. Never got anything like that out of this trailer, maybe if I had watched them in order.

Aaaaaaand, it's back to being Azura's Wrath again, only this time w/ the wrath, so that's good.

But I can still see why this one would be flying under the radar.
Just went back and watched this trailer - too much jazz. Great JRPG anime trailer like Eternal Sonata, but this trailer obviously wasn't made for the western gung-ho audience like the previous one was w/ the FF type fighting music.
Looks like it could me a great game and my thing, but a hard sell.
I bought the original for Vita when it came out and this week I thought "f it, I'll buy the remaster" and so I did...I'm enjoying it again and I'm hyped for the second game
@rjejr It's an open world superhero game.
@get2sammyb So, it's to inFamous what Heavenly Sword was to Gow?
I did finally piece it together. I'm pretty sure it was the girl on stage singing along to the jazz tune that weirded out the entire trailer. That bit was definitely added in for the Japanese audience.
The game looks perfect. The visual design really pops on PS4, with a gorgeous, colorful cel-shaded visual style that simultaneously evokes anime and French comic books. Interesting new characters. A focus on the world's lore. Very solid-looking performance.
This will be my GOTY for sure.
@rjejr So, what, Western gamers have devolved to the point where a "girl singing jazz" will weird them out?
People will be lost and confused if they're not playing some angry white dude who runs around viciously murdering people.
Ugh.
@Ralizah "People will be lost and confused if they're not playing some angry white dude who runs around viciously murdering people."
That pretty much sums it up, yeah.
"a "girl singing jazz" will weird them out?"
No, if any gamer saw a girl singing jazz in a trailer for a karaoke game, Catherine or some Japanese dating sim it would make perfect sense. But if you look at the rest of the trailer that looks like Bayonetta invading the floating city in Bioshock Infinite, then yes, a girl singing jazz is going to seem weird to them and make them scratch their heads. It's all about context. Don't tell me if you saw an add for COD or Madden and saw that same girl singing your reaction wouldn't be "what the..?" Context.
@rjejr ...why would you expect to see a girl singing jazz in a Japanese dating sim? And yeah, I'd be surprised if a cel-shaded anime girl popped up in a Madden ad filled with photorealistic football players. I'd also be surprised if Nathan Drake popped up in a Madden ad, too. I'm not sure what your point is. This isn't Madden, Uncharted, or Call of Duty. It's Gravity Rush. What's so weird about seeing a unique game having its own unique elements?
@Kidfried I never paid any attention to the first game b/c I never had a Vita. And i haven't paid any attention to the PS4 port or this game b/c I figured it was a Vita game so it wasn't going to be my thing. I finally decided to watch this vid as my introduction to the game. And it was certainly different. Having watched the other 2 vids it makes sense now, but this is not a good starting place for anybody new to the series.
I do think this vid is ok for the Japanese marktet, they have their quirks, we have ours, but this wasn't going to generate a whole lot of sales in the west.
It's on my radar now, I like quirky.
It looks amazing! Unfortunately, I still haven't played the original game. I'll get to the remastered version when I get a PS4 (Or if I somehow get a Vita, I'll get it on there).
I really hope this game actually releases in October. The first one is awesome, this one looks better. A shame Sony can't be bothered to advertise it, they'd rather push unnecessary bs instead.
@rjejr Just get the first it's really cheap.
I'm going to replay the first game on my Vita before playing the second one.
Will not buy a remaster but I will be happy if they give it for free in PS Plus.
