Developer Ubisoft Massive has taken a step back and reanalysed its current situation following a rocky few months for The Division - its co-op based, loot-heavy shooter. The game launched back in March, and, as we recall, was hyped up to be the next big thing. And, while it did manage to make a splash initially, it quickly dropped off the radar for a lot of people, with many players complaining about the title's lack of meaningful endgame content.

Here we are six months down the line, and let's face it: no one outside of its hardcore user base is talking about The Division anymore. However, that hasn't stopped the studio from pushing forward with improving the experience. As the developer puts it in a new blog post, "the overall experience has been affected by lingering issues that have accumulated since release". It continues: "It has become clear with your feedback and our own observations that our priority should now be on improving the core gameplay experience."

In other words, Massive is making some pretty significant changes to its post-release downloadable content plans. Survival, the game's next expansion, was supposed to be launching alongside the title's next update in October, but Survival has now been delayed until later in the year. The update, meanwhile, is still set to deploy around the same time, only now, it'll obviously include a lot of fixes and tweaks that will hopefully get the base game up to speed. What's more, Last Stand, the title's third expansion, will now release in early 2017.

Update 1.4, the developer writes, is the beginning of an ongoing effort to improve the overall experience. The post mentions things like more relevant loot drops, tweaks to enemy health, the solo player experience as whole, and Dark Zone balancing. Basically, it sounds like the studio is going to try and restore some faith in its creation, which we suppose is admirable - it's a lot better than leaving The Division to rot, isn't it?

So, do you still play The Division? If not, why did you stop? Does this October update sound good? Lock and load in the comments section below.
