Embrace the cold

As scorching temperatures here in the UK continue to melt away our productivity, we're not sure that we can even be arsed playing games this weekend. That said, those of you from more tropical climes may be better equipped to cope with the apocalyptic temperatures, so do let us know what you're playing in the comments section below.

This weekend I'll be starting Song of the Deep. And when that isn't happening, I'll be sitting quietly waiting for No Man's Sky to come out.

Since I'm off on holiday, I've got to decide which handheld to take with me. Unfortunately, I think my Vita will be staying at home, as not only do I have Monster Hunter Generations to play, but I've also got Yo-Kai Watch, and Fire Emblem Fates to keep me fully occupied. [Traitor – Ed]

I'm borrowing my roommate's copy of DOOM so I can finally play its campaign. As a fan of the originals, I really want to spend some time with this. But before all of that, I'm going to have to sit down and spend a decent chunk of time playing the new episode of Kentucky Route Zero. Sure, the game may now only be 4/5 of the way finished after more than three years from its release, but I'm willing to wait. After all, even at this stage, Kentucky Route Zero is easily my favourite game that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Now if only it'd find its way to the PS4.

Since the latest Star Ocean release, I seem to have gotten my taste back for JRPGs. Rather than splashing out on another new release such as I Am Setsuna, however (though it does look great), I've decided to make some inroads into some of my back analogue. I'm ten hours into Tales of Graces F on the PS3 right now, and I'm really enjoying it. So, having found a little time, I'll be making some progress with that.

I'm currently on the tail end of a family excursion in Canada that's ending tomorrow in the States with Boston, so while I'm not playing anything, I'm really looking forward to heading back home on Sunday to assume my watch with Overwatch once again (especially with the new patch) and finish up Mirror's Edge Catalyst.

I'll be trying to be an effective healer in Overwatch... Then just giving up and choosing Reinhardt or D.Va. I'll also be playing through Mortal Kombat X's glorious story mode.

This weekend I'm at a conference for work – which means that I will be playing Rocket League, DriveClub, and Dangerous Golf on the college's 65" 4K screen against potential new students. It's a tough job, but I'm willing to make these sacrifices!

I'm going to attempt to off that nasty final boss in the rather excellent Furi this weekend. I've been really taken by its simple-yet-satisfying combat, and despite a couple of frustrating fights, it's been a genuinely good time. Elsewhere, to celebrate Sonic's 25th Anniversary (and because Sonic Mania looks legitimately awesome), it's time to dip back into my Mega Drive collection and remind myself of what great Sonic games are like.

So, I have a new drug now and it's called Neverwinter. Thus, I will be slaying tons of baddies as a Greatsword wielding dwarf this weekend.

And that concludes another hot, hot, hot edition of WAYP this week. As always, please feel free to join in on the fun in the comments section below. And could someone please bring a fan or something?
