Tekken 7 is changing things up with its cinematic approach to combat. We've known for ages now that the brawler will feature a slow motion mechanic that kicks in when players land a crushing blow or a finishing move, but the title's story mode aims to take this idea even further.

As hinted in the game's E3 2016 trailer, Bandai Namco has confirmed that fights in story mode will shift seamlessly between cutscene and combat in an attempt to create a more cinematic experience. What's more, you'll be able to react to certain attacks via what sound like quick time events in order to minimise incoming damage. "We wanted to bring extra intensity without taking the player away from the fight, but also make the game even more fun to watch for when you're not playing," Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada states on the PlayStation Blog.

How does this sound to you? Do you think that story modes in most fighting games could do with an upgrade? Slow motion smack us right in the gob in the comments section below.
