Between cumbersome boss battles and crumby PlayStation VR spin-offs, Final Fantasy XV hasn't had a particularly great E3 2016. That's not stopping Square Enix from releasing one more trailer, though – and this one's the best yet. There's no music, and almost zero dialogue – just a car that can turn into an aeroplane.
Watching this we almost started to believe that this game may turn out good, after all. Then the car crashes back to Earth, the cast start talking, and our aforementioned expectations are smashed into smithereens. "I'm one of the good guys, remember?" Quite.

This is vey nice! But my favourite has been the video featuring the city Altissia. It's just amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXBXsBCthC4
aeroplane? I think you mean "skell".
I liked the addition of Death Mountain in the background at the 1 minute mark. Man, Link really needs a skell. Or a hot air balloon. Or a peregrine falcon to fly on.
Big question - is that on rails or are they free flying?
@rjejr Why are we talking about Zelda again?
@rjejr Free flying.
Only thing I don't like about this is the camera seems really close. Can hardly see any of the environment when it turns into a jet.
@get2sammyb 'cause it's just that awesome! 😎
@get2sammyb Well I mentioned Zelda b/c I've been wanting Link to fly for the past 2 days, and the volcano really did remind me of Death Mountain. I have to admit though I only posted the pic for the 10 best E3 games list.
@ShogunRok Thanks. I'll take free flight and a close camera over on rails and a far camera.
There are a few videos out there of the Titan demo being played by people who actually know what they're doing, and it looks pretty good. I wouldn't judge the game at all based on that abomination during the Microsoft conference.
It's almost as pretty as GTAV.
@rjejr
Funny, this clip made me think bout Xenoblade Chronicles too! If XV is anything like it, I'll be a happy man!
@Boerewors oh gosh yes , i love me some ffxv but damn! Id be happy if they announced a port for xenoblade chronicals x, Id cry.
Language -Tasuki-
@BladeRider
My wife would probably cry too if it gets remastered on the NX; she was practically a single mom for a couple of months straight when that game came out.
People, I hate to poop on the parade but we need to keep on topic - doesn't matter how good you think Zelda looks. THANKS.
@Kellanved yeah i know, i watched the Square stream and he even apologised for how badly he played that part
game looks great, i think Sammy is just being overly negative on FFXV to save himself from any possible disappointment in case he doesn't like it
@ShogunRok We've moved on from Zelda and are talking about XC and XCX now, please try and keep up.
But seriously, XC is a JRPG, perhaps 1 of the greatest JRPG I've ever played, if you aren't going to let people compare 1 JRPG to another on a video game "COMMENT" section, where we are supposed to COMMENT, well then, I don't know what the COMMENT section is for.
Also, see the beginning of the title where it says "E3 2016". Where this videogame was shown.Well Zelda U is also a videogame, also shown at E3. So we are discussing what the tile says "E3 2016". If you don't want us to discuss "E3 2016" in a comment section, then don't put "E3 2016" in the tile.
I'm all for keeping things on topic, I don't want to read peoples recipes for kung po chicken or instructions for knitting a sweater or discuss the merits of declawing a cat, but we are discussing videogames shown at E3 2016. I really don't see how that can be viewed as going too far off topic.
But if you really feel the need to police things, go ask @get2sammyb why he mentioned Scalebound in a write up about Nier 2, b/c I really don't see any connection between those 2 games. Sammy gets to bring in Scalebound, we get to bring in Zelda U, what's fair is fair.
@rjejr The comment section is technically there to comment on the article at hand, give the writers feedback etc. Not to start up conversations about other games that have no connection to the article at hand, that's what the forums are for.
Anyway as @ShogunRok said let's keep this on topic. If you want to discuss Zelda NX or any other Wii U game create a forum post.
Thanks for understanding
@rjejr As for @get2sammyb bringing up Scalebound in an article about Neir, they are both made by the same developer.
If anyone is interested the you can get the game for £32.85 from simplygames not sure how long it will be this price but seems like a decent offer. I know this is off topic so do not shout at me.
HELP! I cant pick my jaw back up!
@Tasuki PG has made a lot of games - TMNT just released. Bayonetta. W101. Korra, but he brought up Scalebound and then went off on it - "is that Scalebound – despite being directed by the legendary Hideki Kamiya – looks like total dross" That's not a very nice thing to do, mentioning games just to denigrate them. If he would have just said "...Nier, made by PG, also currnetly working on Scalebound..." - but he didn't, he brought up a competitors "Exclusive" game and then insulted it. Had he not insulted it I probably would have never brought it up.
@Tasuki "that have no connection to the article at hand"
But it DOES have a connection. Watch the video - if you are busy you can skip ahead to the 0:59 mark - then pause it. Look at the background. See the big volcano? Now scroll down and look at the picture I posted of the big volcano known as Doom Mountain in the Zelda series.
2 games, both shown off at E3, both with similar big volcano mountains in the background. How is that NOT a connection?
If you want to say - "You can only talk about what we allow!!!" - then say that. Don't say - "You can't talk about things that aren't connected." - when they so obviously ARE connected. If you are going to use the "Might over right" argument, then use it, don't bother pretending to be fair about it.
@rjejr There is no pretending to be fair about it, all that was asked by @ShogunRok was not to derail the comment section. I don't really understand why that's a hard concept to understand. I am not here to debate on what's derailing and what isn't. Lots of games have volcanos in them it doesn't mean that connects them. As I said if you wish to discuss Zelda NX create a thread not come into a thread about one game that has nothing to do with another and start a discussion on that other game.
Not that that has been explained, there is no need to derail the comment section anymore.
Thanks for understanding
@Tasuki "There is no pretending to be fair about it"
Thanks, that's all I really needed to read.
"Lots of games have volcanos in them it doesn't mean that connects them"
And PG made lots of games, so Scalebound isn't connected to Nier any more than "that game that shall not be named" is connected to FFXV.
If we are discussing the game, which we are doing if we are comparing it to other games, that's what comparisons are, discussing things, then it is "on topic". The problem isn't us not understanding what "off topic" is, the problem is you people not understanding what "on topic" is, that's the real problem.
Not being allowed to mention another videogame that is comparable to the videogame being discussed is irrational. Almost all videogame discussions are comparions. Does this game look better than that game? Does this game play similar to that game? How are we supposed to discuss vidoegames if we aren't allowed to compare them to other videogames? Are we only allowed to compare games to TV shows and movies? I didn't see anybody asking us to stop when we compared Gone Days to the movie World War Z or The Walking Dead TV show, but heaven forbid we compare another game to "that game that shall not be named" and suddenly we are off topic.
That doesn't make any sense. And it's going to be hard for everyone at PS to enforce rules that don't make any sense.
@get2sammyb I really do miss the days when you ended every sentence with "yo" you know. I think we went 3 entire years w/o anybody being told to stay on topic. And we were happy when E3s were over, not simply exhausted. What a drag it is getting old.
@rjejr It's one thing to compare games to each other no one said you can't do that. It's when the comment section derails is when there's a problem. Sure you compare Zelda NX to FF VII then then someone says oh they can't wait for Zelda NX and then it goes into how the NX is better then the PS4 and so on and so on and pretty soon they comment section has nothing to do with the article at hand. All @ShogunRok asked was not to further derail the thread and you then started questioning Sammy I answered and now you insist on derailing the thread further. Which I will now have to ask you to stop, if you have a problem with how things are run here please use the contact form below. This will not be discussed further.
Thanks for understanding
@Tasuki @rjejr woah, what's going on? I came here out of curiosity towards FFXV and sure didn't expect things to go down like this.
Honestly I've never seen anyone on PS nor NL insist like that on staying on topic in almost 2 years lurking around. But what impressed me is how arbitrarily rules have been applied in this case. Come on guys, everyone in here comes to simply stay informed on their hobby and sometimes to also give their opinion about it, starting discussions.
And it's right to have rules so that noone ruins other people's experience, but I don't really see the point in imposing a limit to a correct, polite conversations between users that simply share their feelings about what they've seen in the article, be it optimism, pessimism or a comparison with another game that popped up in their minds. I thought about Skells when I saw the car transform, too.
What bugs me even more is how the "stay on topic" axe fell right after one of the staff replied somewhat harshly to Zelda being brought up.
Should we not be able ro bring up Sony and its games on NL as well then? Because if you read comment sections of E3 articles you'll find an awful lot of comparisons.
And I'm using NL as an example because I'm more familiar there, but I saw comparisons on PS as well throughout the many E3 articles.
Heck, have we really got to the point of demonizing comparisons?
I know I don't have any connection with the argument nor anything related, but hey, comment sections are public, aren't they?
I just thought I would give my two cents about it, and it isn't my intention to question your job, which I've always appreciated (otherwise I wouldn't keep reading your articles).
@clvr Thanks for the input. If you wish to add more please use a contact form below.
Thanks for understanding
oh you know how people were saying that the frame rate of FFXV was bad after the XB1 demo well the PS4 seems to be pretty smooth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaCmM3KTPjk
