Buddies Geoff Keighley and Hideo Kojima got together and had a friendly chat today to discuss his feelings over the major shifts in his life over the past year, where he's been in his worldwide travels visiting game studios, and what he has planned for his new studio. However, Keighley asked two questions in particular that caught our attention. One of the first involves why he decided to partner with Sony, and he had this to say about the corporation, which is actually influencing the foundation of his nascent project.

"With Sony I've had a long relationship and there's always been some trust within our relationship, so for our first title, I wanted to base it on the relationship of trust that we have so that's why we're working with Sony," Kojima said. "Sony has been extremely trusting towards me and I've been allowed a lot of freedom to do pretty much what I want to, so it's been really fun and we're really excited about this."

Keighley also pushes Kojima to explain who his studio's mascot, Ludens, exactly is and if it might indeed be The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, who was slated to be the main protagonist of the canceled Silent Hills. He dodges the inquiry and indirectly answers that the figure represents you. "That's everyone, that's us, that's the users, that's each one of us...inside that skull mask." While the mystery remains since one could say that about any video game's player character, the sentiment behind who Ludens is and his name is nevertheless epic, for lack of a better term.
