It's clear that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been a huge success, but now Sony has come out with the news that Nathan Drake's final adventure has sold over 2.7 million copies worldwide in its first week. That includes both Blu-ray sales and digital purchases from the PlayStation Store. In both the North America and PAL regions, Uncharted 4 has become the fastest-selling PS4 first-party title to date.
This does beat the initial sales of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which took several months to reach the three million mark. However, this does not top the day-one sales of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which moved 3.8 million units on its first day on the market. It's worth noting, though, that Uncharted 3's sales refer to copies shipped, whereas Uncharted 4's numbers reflect copies sold directly to consumers.
Regardless, Uncharted 4 is a huge achievement for both Sony and Naughty Dog, and the sales figures are only going to increase.

Wow! Impressive numbers.
Very much deserved and I hope it continues selling well for many more months yet.
Makes me wonder where Sony will take the franchise next and who will develop it?!
For a PS4 exclusive, this is music to Sony's ears. I'm really happy for it. Naughty Dog Absolutely deserves it. Well done Sony.
I wonder what the split was between digital and physical copies?
I'm still working my way through the Collection, but will definitely pick up 4 at some point.
@JoeBlogs Yeah I agree we've seen the last of Drake but not sure we've seen the last of the franchise. Especially seeing as it's a fan favourite and is selling so well. Could be wrong of course!
Remember that there's single player DLC planned. Will be fascinating to see what they do with that.
SPOILERS Cassie, perhaps? SPOILERS
I don't think we've seen the last of Uncharted, if you've played the game you'll know what i mean.
Except South Africa the dam game is expensive here. Waiting on my friend to borrow it
There are several things ND could do with the Single Player DLC. They could of course focus on something set before the ending of U4 and use Drake as the lead but anyone who played the game will know that there are 2 potential possibilities they could explore - Sam and Sully - they go off together on a project or Cassie of course
I don't necessarily think its the 'end' of Uncharted as a franchise or that Sony will necessarily pass the franchise on to another developer. I do think though that it has bought Naughty Dog time to develop other game(s) and if in the future they want to return, they of course could with a new lead...
@get2sammyb the article is talking about shipped vs sold and it doesn't make sense. Unless we know how much UC3 SOLD TO CONSUMERS in a week or how much UC4 shipped on its first day, it's kinda useless to compare them directly. For all we know they shipped 4+ million or UC3 sold less than 2.7 million to consumers in the first week..
@DominicanGlory All of that is pointed out in the article:
"It's worth noting, though, that Uncharted 3's sales refer to copies shipped, whereas Uncharted 4's numbers reflect copies sold directly to consumers."
These are the only numbers that have publicly been made available.
@get2sammyb my issue is with the paragraph that comes before that one.
@get2sammyb It's Also worth pointing out that the PS3 install base would have been around double that of the PS4 at that point. In any case it's a fantastic achievement and it is the best game I've played on PS4. These past few weeks could be the best I've ever had in gaming with Ratchet and Clank, then Uncharted 4 and today I've just picked up Doom which is amazing and a welcome return to the great fps games of the mid 90's
@DominicanGlory Okay?
I wonder how many games need to be sold before they make a profit. Must have cost a fortune to make and advertise. At 2.7m i am sure they have already past that mark.
Unsurprising. HUGE marketing budget (seriously, I constantly see commercials for this game on TV), rave reviews, and Uncharted games always tending to sell pretty well made this one pretty much a guaranteed hit.
If there's going to be single-player DLC, that means there will likely be a GOTY version at some point. I'll wait until that drops to get this.
@Neolit
Agreed. Here in Costa Rica you see 0 ads for games but U4 had one and it was everywhere. I know its the first week but one thinks it should be higher. Its worldwide sales we are talking here.
Still the game is amazing and I am happy to see it sell.
I'd like to know what week 1 sales were of other big games like the ACs, CoDs, Arkham Knight, MGS V and GTA V were on PS4 alone before downplaying this. The numbers are in line with sales from other games in the series and PS3 had a bigger userbase for sure when Uncharted 3 came out. 2.7 mil is a good number but I would've thought the sales would be higher, to be honest. I know it's only a release on one console but it's the system's best game, imo, and it's one that should have a more mass appeal than something like Bloodborne.
@NAZA187
Everything is expensive here these days mate, that damn Rand is killing us. Xbox Live is now 3 x more expensive and Plus' price got already bumped up last year. Gaming has always been rather expensive, but with the economy truly in the crapper at this point I can only seeing it getting worse. Zuma and his muppets have set this country back 500 years and in 30 years we won't be whining bout the high prices of videogames, but bout the price of water which we'll have to import.
But hey, maybe that is what it takes for people to open their eyes. Maybe they have to see their kids dying of hunger and thirst before they'll vote with their minds instead of with their DNA.
@get2sammyb
The only element of the game I did not see coming at all and I don't possibly see what they could for DLC regarding that person. Now, Sam and Sully on the other hand...
Does anyone else find it a little ironic and kinda cool that Uncharted 4 will like make as much money as Avery's treasure was worth?
