Never, ever let it be said that Sony doesn't eventually come good on a promise. The Last Guardian, after many years hidden from desperate gamer eyes, is finally set to launch this year – and now the platform holder's finally delivered a console with Pixar quality visuals. Sure, it may have been talking about the PlayStation 2 when it promised Toy Story-esque graphics, but it's at last delivered with Ratchet & Clank on the PlayStation 4.
Seriously, we're surprised that this game continues to fly under the radar – it looks breath-taking, doesn't it? The manufacturer's sent a new build out to various outlets not named Push Square, and we've included PlayStation Access' coverage in the space below. Look, those guys may have preview copies of Insomniac Games' latest and almost a million subscribers – but they'll never have a princess room like this writer.
The game looks ace.

I am so hyped for this game! This rivals uncharted for my most anticipated ps4 game! Neither one holds a candle to Zelda U for me though
Difficult to contain my excitement for this.
Sadly I missed playing Ratchet and Clank when they were originally released when I was growing up, but after I graduated I decided to play through all of the Ratchet and Clank games on the PS3.
It was one of the funnest summers.
Funny how I loved Sly and Jak back on the PS2 and never considered Ratchet and Clank.
One game I no il play multiple times and will be a great game if recent r&c titles are anything to go on an from what I've seen the graphical improvements are impressive. So looking frwd to this one plus love that crazy egomaniac humor of captain Q
Been watching gameplay videos of it flat out. Looks fecking amazing. All those memories in glorious HD. Im drooling right now
It's not too late to start marketing this as if you really care Sony. Not only will this game scratch that nostalgia itch, it'll also attract new kids to start playing Playstation (more). Especially with the movie out it seems like a no- brainer, yet everyone feels Sony will let this game drown because they have UC4 to worry about. Why would you give Nintendo the chance to regroup themselves and scoop up so many young gamers and their families, when with little to no extra effort you could be attracting those families yourselves?
Well, at this point I think we know why it's flown under the radar..... (glares at Drake shrine)
I'm happy to say that Ratchet & Clank is the first PS4 game I've played. Got to try a demo of it at Gamestop when I get Metal Gear Rising. Obviously it looks good, but aside from a bit of muscle memory issues (I kept screwing up how to throw the wrench), it plays and handles really well. Ok, about as well as you can get with a controller attached to a retracting cord. I seriously can't wait for it.
@DerMeister @Boerewors
Come on Sony. Please. Please? Don't let this flop. I know you're looking for an excuse to stop making kiddy games but come on. More style less grit I mean look at this beauty!
Actually @Boerewors specifically....I think Sony might have dropped the ball on that market. Jak and Sly are MIA, Ratchet is...well you know my sstance on this incompetence. I think they took the response to Knack and Naughty Dogs words about lighter games a bit too seriously. If they wanted that market there would be more than this coming.
And you know what? I didn't get into PlayStation because of third party deals and realistic graphics. It was these, Spyro, Crash, Jak, Sly, all sorts of THAT stuff. And I say the Wii U is my main console not only because of the genres it offers over the PS4 on a more frequent basis, but also...well...visual appeal. I'm colour blind so more colourful and artisticly powerful a game is, like this or any "kiddy" game really, the more I'm going to want to play it (All those browns really do look the same. And some dark reds/greens, its not fun). Plus the Wii U offerings that weren't super cheery like Xenoblade still offered visual flair and gameplay that seriously captivates and draws you in. With a combo like that, for me, personally, is a reason that whenever I weigh up a months releases I lean more towards Nintendo, because Sony is so transfixed on one market that it forgets the rest of the world exist. Like the EU. Sort that Sony. Seriously.
Or maybe the Wii U is just a console for people with disabilities. That's what my housemates say.
@BLPs They've got a month, so maybe something will happen. I normally don't care what any companies do but I really feel like something is wrong whenever Ratchet is left in the dust.
Also, this is just me, but while Jak has been done for years and really doesn't have a reason to return, I don't think Sly should be counted out just yet, since there is an opening for a new game with 4's cliffhanger. It's just whenever Sanzaru or whoever else comes around with it really. There's also Sly's own film, which I doubt we'll see until 2017, but I do expect something after Ratchet is done.
Didn't even realise that the game is launching at £27.99 here in the UK! Preordering today.
This is one of those games where I wasn't that excited until I recently watch some gameplay videos which reminded me how much I like R&C the pixar visuals are the icing on the cake.
Argh, that release date! It seems it will have to wait I finish DS3 first.
I'm happy PS4 still gets some of this "childish" game since Nintendo showed how great they look thanks to games like Yarn Yoshi, SM3DW and DK. There's really no reason to bind next-gen power to realism only...
Princess room? Effing classic Sammy, seriously though you guys should have gotten a preview copy. This site has definitely hyped this game more than any other.
Bad form on PlayStation Access's part!!! How dare they try to confuse gamers into thinking there watching the game when it's really from the movi....Oooooo?
Seriously look at toy story 1 it looks awful, the PS2 really wasn't that far off hitting those graphics back in the day.
That first level at the start of the video is 100% lifted from the first ratchet and clank.... all the terrain, layout, map, models everything - just upgraded textures and perhaps some more polygons and effects. I very hope the whole game isn't like that.
@Mega-Gazz this game is a reboot of the first ratchet and clank? That's probably why. I'm sure there will be plenty of differences though.
It's flying under the radar because modern gamers grew up on Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto. If they can't shoot it, kill it, spend it or screw it, they don't want it.
@JaxonH
You shoot things with various guns.
You kill stuff with said various guns.
You spend bolts for said various guns.
You screw big bolts with wrench when not using said various guns.
I dunno, it sounds perfect.
Never played any ratchet and clank games so will go back and play a few of them and then play this. The gameplay looks great. If anyone has an Canadian PSN you can pick it up for just over £20
@JaxonH To be fair, GTA got popular around the same time as Ratchet & Clank did. So there's probably plenty of people who grew up on both.
Looks great!
I also said the same for the first one on PS3 (looking like a pixar film). And a very underrated game it was...
@JaxonH I tend to agree, regardless of anyone's optimistic good will it will sell well anyway but it don't be a blockbuster
So many guys upset about that "princess room"
they get triggered so fast thinking someone might think they are gay for watching the video insecure much?
This is shaping up to be a great year for gaming, this game looks gorgeous and I've really missed these types of games and we get Yooka Laylee later this year. With this and Uncharted shortly after not to mention the quite excellent The Division and smaller titles like Broforce I've had a much busier start to my gaming year than last year and I still have Fallout and Witcher dlc to play, all this in between Rocket League sessions. I need more free time 😃
Gorgeous visuals
Wow, can't wait, day one....
Seems pretty awesome.
It looks so beautiful, I can't wait! Then Uncharted 4 after this, and now a possible FFXV release in September. This is shaping up to be a great 2016 in game releases!
