Capcom wasn't lying when it said that there were going to be some harsh penalties for quitting out of unfinished matches in Street Fighter V, and a fine example of the developer's effort to rid the game of quitters comes thanks to the case of Japanese player World_Combo.
World_Combo was one of two combatants to first reach the Super Platinum rank, which requires a dizzying 10,000 league points to get to. However, evidence submitted to Capcom suggested that the World_Combo was actually ducking out of fights before losing, and the developer was forced to take action.
Going by leaderboard screenshots taken by Event Hubs, World_Combo was stripped of more than 9000 league points yesterday, and was consequently relegated back to Bronze rank. Now that's what we would call a knockout.
Would you show any mercy to players who quit out of matches if they're about to lose? Don't you dare disconnect in the comments section below.

They should take single player as seriously as online play, lol.
haha, good, now make it so that they only meet up with other fighters who constantly disconnect.
I would show mercy to someone that disconnects in middle of a match due to internet issues or something of that nature but if its in middle of an Ultra Move or a bit after a stun its bit obvious that its just a coward and it actualy deserves the punishment.
Well done! Now they unleashed that beast on the poor bronze league though lol
Waiting for news on the update!
I lose a lot of matches but I never quit any of them. Now, can Capcom boost me up to Super Platinum rank for being a good sport?
They should stick persistent bell ends on a bell end server.
Talk about "putting a person on blast." It was well deserved though.. Watch the rage quitters start a new account and change their names (online i.d.'s) to avoid embarrassment. All of this share button recording and Twitch/YouTube streaming is telling on people like them.
Good stuff
Never really understood the fascination of Rank in these types of games, especially when you start to disconnecting just to keep it up.
Ha! Thats awesome.
That's pretty funny.
@WanderingBullet Amen to that! Around super-silver I hit a wall and I can't progress.
@WanderingBullet
I can agree with that. Lol
Vegeta, what does the scouter say about World_Combo's penalty level?
@Captain_Toad i died on this comment, my soul left earth but the great almighty said i haven't lived enough so i was sent back to reply to your comment!
I wonder if there's some sort of monitoring or log that can distinguish between a dropped connection and someone actually rage quitting.
Can't believe I missed this. While SFV definitely needs single player fixes, there's not much I hate more than rage quitters who get off scot free.
Good show Capcom. Now get back to work!
They really should focus more on finishing the game first before smashing their customer base in the face. But ehh I don't play fighting types of games.
sounds great - and well deserved - I would prefer even harsher penalties tbh, look at "LOL" for example, you get banned there easily for quitting/swearing and its a good way to teach some people a lesson on how to behave
I admit I would also prefer CAPCOM in giving more effort in the overall development of their games than in topics as such but ok they seem to have their priorities ...
Well done, Capcom and... take that, cheater!!
not only do I agree with I don't think it's far enough.
Quitters should have their PSN account locked out for a month. and incrementally raise the ban a month per subsequent offense.
If you quit from an online game then don't play online. freeze the account.
@Feena You're definitely better than me in SFV. If I'm not mistaken Super-Silver is in the middle of the rankings, right? I'm still only on Rookie rank.
@WanderingBullet yes I am painfully middle of the road! At least you have the courage to commit to a direction.
I have played this game twice since I bought it. Does capcom realize that graphics only does not make a game?. This street fighter sucks
@BoltedArc Glad to be at your service! bows
