Oh, boy – Sony's going to throw every single marketing dollar it has at Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, isn't it? The platform holder has just announced that it will be debuting a brand new trailer for Naughty Dog's forthcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in US theatres this weekend. One can't help but wonder how much that's costing the company…
Still, it'll be money well spent, we suspect. As a flagship exclusive, these ads will probably sell the PS4 just as much as the game. And with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection bundles still available for $299.99 around the States… Well, let's just say that we suspect many movie goers will be swinging by their nearest GameStop after seeing the hotly anticipated flick.
Now, someone sneak a camcorder into the cinema and get that trailer up on YouTube, yeah? Actually, probably best to just wait for Sony to upload the high-definition version. You wouldn't steal a car and all that...

This generation couldn't be more different to the last one. The biggest push Drake got on PS3 was a Subway sandwich commercial.
Uncharted? Never heard of it :/
I know I'm in the minority on this, but I loved the baby comercials for the ps3. Sure they were weird, but I always loved the ps3s potential and overall just better value even at launch (considering blu ray, wi fi, upgradable hd, etc) and those commercials to me just always evoked the feeling that you were buying a truly premium piece of hardware.
@BigDaddyT0101 I liked the crazy PlayStation commercials too but I think they've been doing a decent job this generation. Those ads worked in the PSone and PS2 era because PlayStation was pretty much untouchable, but I think this gen they've needed to remind people why they love PlayStation in the first place.
I think that's part of the reason they've been playing the nostalgia card so hard.
I really liked the Kevin Butler ones. I'm not sure what the general feeling on those is, maybe I'm an idiot.

@kyleforrester87 they were great. Miss those ads.
@get2sammyb going to Star Wars tonight but as you say, the trailer will only be in the US. Will look for it online
@get2sammyb absolutely, it's not just nostalgia, but also a ton of younger collectors who get there hands on everything they can. I know a few people I play with regularly started gaming on xbox, never had a ps1 or ps2, but through word of mouth, marketing, they are gung ho on every anniversary sony thing they can get their hands on. I got that 20th anny ds4 for my own nostalgia, 1st system was snes, but I fell in love with gaming on ps1. Sony has done a tremendous job marketing this gen, more so because I think it appeals to a much wider audience than the old marketing.
@kyleforrester87 Those were the best!
On to the trailer though, that's just great. I'm in line for The Force Awakens right now, but I'm trying to avoid these trailers completely - audio and all. Maybe I'll just step out when it occurs. Ghrr.
@get2sammyb
Only Uncharted is getting a push though as far as advertising for Sony's own games. But at least Sony is advertising something. And the console itself has been marketed 1 million times better than PS3 ever was. So I guess in that sense I'd agree this gen is different.
Not in NZ. All we got here was a trailer that we'd already seen for Civil War and a new trailer for, perhaps fittingly, Temuera Morrison's (Jango Fett) new NZ movie.
@get2sammyb Do you know where I can find a list of the specific theaters that will be showing this brand new trailer?
that's pretty cool! Wasn't Ocarina of Time's trailer the last time this happened? But I was in elementary school so maybe I'm imagining things.
@Utena-mobile Was that the terrible one that had the tagline "And in the end, willst thou get the girl... Or play like one?"?

Okay, so I saw Star Wars, but there wasn't an Uncharted trailer.
I was disappointed in the movie, at least uncharted 4 isn't likely to do the same.
Kinda glad this appears to be US-only, as I'm trying to avoid all the trailers! The first E3 demo was enough (haven't even watched the extended one) - I'm plenty hyped enough already!
Any leaks? I really wanna see it!
"The biggest push Drake got on PS3 was a Subway sandwich commercial."
lol. Sony are definitely doing a great job this gen. I think the TV ad for Star Wars is great with the worker in his office jumping out the window onto an X-Wing!
They have also done a super job partnering with 3rd parties best titles too...
People will think this game is a Movie tho(it looks like a Blockbuster Movie)
Saw Star Wars last night (I loved it but I'm not going to discuss it due to people potentially having it spoiled) and there was no Uncharted ad.
Curiously though, there was a trailer for the Warcraft movie and when it came on several people groaned disapprovingly. I'm not a Warcraft fan myself, but didn't realise it got that kind of hate.
There was a Clash of Clans ad that went on for ages though, that annoyed me. 20 quid for imax 3d and these people think it's ok to waste half an hour of my time on ads? Scumbags.
@Johnnycide "ok to waste half an hour of my time on ads?"
You spent 20 quid on a 2 hour ad for toys, what's another 30 minutes?
This weekend only? Must have cost a bundle. Will be 2 weeks before we see it. Maybe not even then depending on reviews. Maybe I'll wait for the extended edition Blu Ray trilogy box set in 2020. I suppose that's really what this 2 hours is an ad for, the $100 box set. Maybe $150 for 4k.
They would never show it here so I will look for it later. Watching the movie tomorrow afternoon to avoid spoilers.
@rjejr
No need to worry about that, it has been getting pretty strong reviews overall. Another reason why I am watching it so soon after release.
@Matroska
holy crap!!! I think that's it! I don't remember the last part though. Maybe that was edited out for the theaters. lol, the trailer looks pretty bad now, but I remember at the time my sister and I were like "OMG! We need this game!!!"
@sinalefa
Awesome!! I'm seeing it next week. You should dress up for the occasion.
Huh, I saw the movie opening day with all of the previews and I didn't see anything with Uncharted 4... granted, I was goofing around with my brothers and friends so I probably just missed it by not looking at the screen. Shame too, I would have loved to see it.
I saw star wars at the Imax yesterday in the U.S. and no Uncharted trailer :/ movie was great though!
