When it comes to arcade shooters, there are very few studios that come close to Finnish outfit Housemarque. It's great to see the Resogun developer remain in Sony's stable, then, with its next game MatterFall announced during the platform holder's Paris Games Week press conference. It looks a little bit like Vanquish with voxels, but the developer's not really saying much right now.
At the end of the day, though, this is a new game from Housemarque, which is all that you really need to know. The post on the PlayStation Blog mentions "addictive, lightning fast arcade gameplay", which is enough to get us on board. More details are promised for the near future, but we imagine that the firm will be focusing on Alienation for the time being.

Why hasn't Sony made them a first party studio yet? They make amazing games and only for PS. With Sony publishing they don't retain the IP.
On the matter of the game, it looked interesting, but since it was a generated clip and not actual I will wait for more info before I decide that I will still get this game. I have yet to be disappointed with them this generation.
Oh hell yes. This looks awesome. Sony needs to buy this studio and give it a bigger budget. It's already one of the best, imagine what it could do if it had some more $ to work with.
@NomNom I imagine it's a similar scenario to Quantic Dream. The developer seems happy to make exclusives, and Sony's happy to bank roll them. I guess the relationship just works without them really needing to become full first-party.
@get2sammyb I understand it isn't a real issue, nor should it be. But with Sony selling their computer gaming devision I figured they'd look to replace it with a newly minted first party. And the only ones that would have fit the bill would have been ready at dawn ( new CEO wants multiplat now so unlikely), insomniac (same as ready at dawn), Quantic Dream, Supermassive Games, or Housemarque. It's a pipe dream I know. :')
I'm gonna be all over this
Housemarque are brilliant, can put money on this being great fun.
@Frank90 with you there its crysis / dead space / vanquish man again yay.
That said Resogun is the best shoot em up since project x on the Amiga so they should do a good job.
If you guys want game play, check out how they are doing on Alienation. Looks so so good. https://youtu.be/85lZTRx_whM
