Nathan Drake's been the star of every Uncharted game to date, and sadly for those who think that he's a bit of a douche, we wouldn't put money on seeing him lose his role any time soon. In an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine, Naughty Dog's Josh Scherr says that it's "hard to imagine" the property without its cocky protagonist - and we'd agree.
Indeed, Drake may be reckless, arrogant, and, let's face it, a brutal killer of men, but he's still very much the focus of the franchise. Without him, everything would need a serious reshuffle to the point where we question whether it could even be called Uncharted. Of course, with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End plundering PlayStation 4s next year, we're still yet to see what Naughty Dog has planned for series as a whole.

Drake is Uncharted for me.
Uncharted 4 ends with Elena and Nate holding their baby and saying "Greatness from small beginnings"...
Screen goes black....
17 years later.
A young man looking like Elena with a dash of Nate is running away... From clickers.
The Last of Us 2 logo flashes on the screen. Orgasms everywhere
Nate is the face of the franchise. I honestly can't imagine a game without him. However, I hope these words don't mean they're going to continue the franchise past 4. I love Uncharted, but I can't see the series going any further.
I always figured the series could continue with the son of Elena and Nate.
@DominicanGlory you've just ruined the end of Uncharted 4, not because I think this'll happen but now however it ends, it can't be as good as this. As @Neolit said, this comment section is now closed.
Nathan Drake is Uncharted.
It'd be like Halo without Master Chief or The Legend of Zelda without Link.
In truth it depends how it's handeled. If they do it with an offspring or maybe where Drake takes up a role like Sully that as a mentor to someone who he passes the torch to would be good and keep the story going. Then again, you could have another case of James Bond syndrom.
I could see Uncharted without Drake tbh, maybe a throw back to Sully in his youth or seeing what Chloe was doing before she met Nate.
@GlynCR I definitely wouldn't mind playing as young Sully. That'd be ripe for hilarious adventures.
I'm not sure it could work, though the idea of Nate's son could work if Nate takes the mentor role. Only maybe though.
@GlynCR That would have been a great Vita spin-off lol.
@Jaz007 @ShogunRok a sully based spin off could work best IMO a character long time fans know who's past is pretty much a mystery could be ideal
20 years from now we will see this series reboot, with Nathan Drake's son. Lol.
But I do believe that 4 is the last game of the series that Naughty Dog will work on, what happens to the IP after that is anyone's guess.
Guy guys guys
"UN-Sullied"
best spin off series GOTY 2017 You're welcome sony.
It will be either his son taking over the role, or there will be a bunch of back stories in the series. Other than that, I don't see the franchise ending after part 4...especially if they have another super-hit with it, I just see them taking a small break from the game and focusing on other projects. We're probably see one more Uncharted game in the PS4's life cycle, and then...not until PS5 will we see yet another COLLECTION and then a new title in the series.
I thought they said U4 was the last in the series. That lasted a while.
There was speculation that U4 might be the last. These comments throw that into doubt.
Either it's the last, and Drake is the thief who meets his end, or he doesn't and there will be more Uncharted games.
Mind you, I have suspected for a while that the thief who meets his end may well be Drake's brother. Or Sully. Oh I hope it's not Sully. I still remember... oops, better not... spoilers for those yet to play it.
