Want some more colour in your portable gaming life? If so, we've got some good news for you, as North America will be nabbing the rather nice looking Aqua Blue Vita model later this year. The caveat is that it's a GameStop exclusive, where it'll retail for $199.99. It's also up for pre-order right now.
The vibrant device will be available at some point in November, so it may be a tempting holiday buy for anyone who doesn't own one of Sony's high definition handhelds.
Are you tempted? Do you like the colour, or is it a bit too bright for your tastes? Does anyone else feel thirsty? Grab a drink and take a refreshing trip into the comments section below.

I like the black better. Also I just bought my black so it is to soon for a upgrade.
Also it says get a surf board and go surf.
I'm still debating on whether or not I should get a Vita. I mean, I don't think it's a bad system at all, but I'm not entirely sure that its games appeal to me. Hmm...
@Goob If you don't really like games with anime-style graphics, usually full of fanservice and trading on the appeal of cute girls doing cute things, then you shouldn't get one. If you DO like those things, you'll love it.
@Goob Just get it if you keep thinking about it you will never get it just buy it.You will feel better afterwards and get tearaway and they have a lot of free to play games and crunchyroll the best free to play is run sackboy run.
That looks good to me. I'm a sucker for blue.
Looks great - I just can't help but think it's a little too late. Will this even sell?
Really like the blue, looks like a wireless speaker upside down, but the black screen clashes too much, like a safety bumper on a Toys R Us tablet.
I'm guessing this is the newer model with the inferior screen? Shouldn't this thing be $149 by now? That Zelda XL just started looking so much better @JaxonH
@rjejr
That Hyrule Gold New 3DS has "rjejr" written all over it. I needn't tell you how amazing Fire Emblem Awakening (and surely Fates soon enough), Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Zelda Link Between Worlds, Xenoblade Chronicles and DKC Returns is. You already know. Or, you should anyways. And if you don't, you need to find out as soon as possible.
I'm looking into getting a vita again (my last one died on me) and that blue one sure looks slick! Not sure if I want that our the black one now.
I'd love a 2nd vita. But alas I am broke.
Hah I just pre ordered the new white 3ds from GameStop. I was on the fence about a 3ds or a Vita and this looks really nice, it's tempting for sure. I would think this will still be available a bit down the road lol don't believe it will sell too fast.
@Matroska I don't like Japanese games but still love the Vita..
I really love that shade of blue. It's absolutely beautiful. But it does look awkward with the black in the center.
It's a moot point admiring this anyways because there's no way I would ever let go of my OLED. Not that I play my Vita more than once or twice a year anymore anyways, but it's nice to have for those rare Christmas mornings that I do bust it out.
@JaxonH My 3DS list looks more like this - sort of in order - Kid Icarus, Luigi Mansion 2, FE:A, M&L:DT, Fairy Default. And a couple of oldies Solartorobo, Monster Tale and DQV. Now what I really need is a job in the city with an hour train commute each way like my wife has to justify it. B/c otherwise I still need to play long games I own like Skyrim, Nick No Kuni, Bios hock 1, Metro I'd Other M and a couple of others I forget.
Nice looks, but why are they releasing a new color for a dead-system walking?
How about releasing new games?
...
Why is the border around the screen not blue? Or the camera. Or the joystick?
@MyLegGuy Look at the Game Boy, GBA, DS, 3DS. They're the same. Having a really bright colour as the surround to a screen is a really bad idea. It distracts your eye from the screen and offsets all the screen colours in a weird way. It's why when you go to the cinema they turn the lights off and typically have a dark wall. You wouldn't sit there in a bright light with a neon pink wall around the screen. The coloured PSPs didn't do that and I can only assume Sony got feedback that led them to change the design this time around.
@andrew20 Free to play isn't exactly my thing, plus I'm not too big into anime so I'd probably never get a Crunchyroll subscription. And besides, I think Tearaway Unfolded on PS4 can help with my lack of being able to play the original Tearaway.
@Matroska That's basically what I've been hearing about the system — a love letter to Anime fans / JRPGs fans but not so much to everyone else.
To be honest, one of the main reasons I've been thinking about getting a Vita was so that I can play MGS3 and Peacewalker (as I'm intrigued by the Phantom Pain but I don't have time to play the entire series, and according to many, MGS3 and Peacewalker are the only essentials before playing V) and Corpse Party. Other than that, Persona 4 and Killzone piqued my interest along with some ports of older games I never played (God of War collection, Sly cooper collection), but not much of anything else. Plus, the ridiculous prices for PS Vita sd cards really shy me away from purchasing one.
Quick question: are PS Vita physical games installed on the system and take up storage space like PS4 games are? I can't seem to find an answer online.
@Goob crunchyroll is free if you do the ads you do not need a scription for it.
@andrew20 I can still watch Crunchyroll on my Wii U or iPad if I wanted to, I don't necessarily need a Vita for it.
@Goob they are, but the installs are only about 50MB for physicals.
This looks gorgeous though, but I've already got a blur case for mine. If I didn't already have a Vita I would certainly be tempted.
I have one of these and it is beautiful. The LCD screen doesn't bother me much, is pretty sharp as LCDs go, and I don't even think about comparing it to the OLED of the older one. This one also just feels more comfortable in the hands.
It's a nice matte finish, too, so less of a chance for fingerprints and smudges.
