Naturally we think that Push Square is the best PlayStation website on the net, but we're not oblivious to the great content available elsewhere. One of this author's favourites was always Podcast Beyond, the flagship IGN podcast featuring Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty. There's good news, then, for fans of the old show – as it's making a comeback. Well, kind of.
Starting from 29th September, the Kinda Funny Games double-act will be launching a new PlayStation podcast, and it has a much better name than their main venture. PS I Love You XOXO seems like it will be a long overdue return to Greg and Colin's old stomping ground, and we're really looking forward to hearing from a few familiar faces again.
There's a trailer below, with a link to the podcast's Soundcloud page in the description. Will you be subscribing to this show? If it's anything like the old Podcast Beyond, then you can slap Push Square's seal of approval on it right now.

I'm bizarrely excited by this...
Weird, I wonder if the main multiplatform branding isn't doing as well as they thought it would.
It seems like that they are doing well already,....I just think that they know they could get even more views if they did do a PS centric podcast. Even though I do at times have differing opinions, I mildly enjoy these two.
.......and my god is the new IGN Podcast Beyond absolutely cringe worthy bad.
@sub12 The Max guy is just really annoying even if he has gotten a bit better... plus after Colin and Greg left the thing is more like a general gaming podcast it doesn't really feel like a playstation specific podcast
@DualWielding
Agree, Max is annoying, although he has slightly improved, the biggest flaw as you pointed out is that the knowledge on Sony and the Playstation is obviously lacking, so everything just comes off generic. Plus Colin and Greg usually stick to some sort of format, while the new Podcast Beyond is usually a fluster cuck.
As I live and breathe!
The NEW "number one PlayStation Podcast in the world"!
Beyond isn't what it used to be and I blame it on 1 thing: it's not the new people that make it feel so much worse than before, it's the amount of people! 4 people in the Beyond podcast just never worked and when there are 3 guys that are trying to be funny and 1 guy who actually brings some news, there is no balance. Colin is a bit more serious and cynical and Greg is a bit of a clown but an excellent host and with just a rotating guest on the show they managed to keep it fun but structured and organized.
Max, Brian and Sliva are all funny in their own way, but together they're so cringeworthy just begging for laughs. I usually just listen the podcasts in my car, but I recently watched a video and you can clearly see them totally not paying attention to what their colleagues are saying just because they have a joke on their mind they don't wanna forget.
This is awesome and I agree with all of you about the new podcast beyond. I think they are trying (especially Marty) but there is a clear difference compared to the old Beyond. Colin and Greg just care about playstation without being fanboys and it always showed in the quality of the podcast. I don't know why they have so many people on the new one or why they let people leave part way through either.
@Boerewors
Game Scoop works with 4 people, so I think the problem is actually the people... specially Max, he is the host so he is the one whose job is supposed to be keep the rest of the people on topic and get the podcast moving when they start going down a hole.. .but instead he is the one who derails things the most
@sub12
I actually like Marty, but he's clearly an Xbox guy. I see some people saying the number of people on the podcast is the problem, but I can't agree with that at all. Different arena, but I listen to sports podcasts with more 4 or more people and it's fine. I've listened to some game podcasts with 4 people and it's fine. It's not about how many people are talking. The issues, especially when the podcast is supposed to be about a specific product or team, is how much do the people actually care? One of the reasons I never gave a sh*t about IGN's Xbox podcast prior to 2012 was because the guys they had doing it were not Xbox guys, so I subbed to KOXM. When Ryan McCaffrey took over IGN Xbox and Podcast Unlocked it became a much better listen because he basically turned it into what he had done during his time at Official Xbox Magazine. He bleeds green and he doesn't make apologies for it and the podcast is better for it. People, because they are idiots, will cry 'fanboys' just like they do at this website eventhough it's obviously a brand-specific site, not multiplat, but fact is, I don't go to console specific websites or listen to console specific podcasts to hear about how wonderful and perfect the competition is. And since Greg and Colin are clearly PlayStation guys anyway, I welcome a return to more PlayStation-specific talk because with them gone from the scene there have been no PS Podcasts to replace what Beyond was. This is great news as far as I'm concerned.
@Boerewors
In addition, why do it have to be all guys, they should have one female member on the podcast... that Meghan girl did pretty well when Colin and Greg used to bring her
@DualWielding
It don't necessarily have to be guys, but most of the time women on shows like these, or sports related broadcasts, are simply trying to hard to sound as "male" as possible. It's as if they think they have to behave differently in order to fit in, which is totally not true. There's no better man, than an actual man so it doesn't make sense if you try to be one.
If girls/ women are secure and have trust in their own knowledge and skills it's beautiful to have them aboard, but if they're trying to hard to be one of the bros than I prefer an actual guy.
If there was one thing in the past that was consistent in quality from IGN it was NVC and Beyond.
Excellent
Beyond!
Greg, Colin and that guy who liked all Japanese things,and now works works for PS, used to make solid podcasts, but I haven't listened to that stuff in years.
I'm really pleased about this, its their passion and what they have the most knowledge about - I'm sure its going to do really well. They cover enough news on their daily show on the other formats anyway.
I used to listen to Beyond every week, but I just can't get into it now. I actually really like Max, I think he's a great host and individually I like a lot of the people on there too like Brian - however they just don't work together on Beyond.
I think its because they go instantly into their "comedy button" roles and lose focus on what the show is about - and for me personally I don't like the comedy button podcast.
The only IGN podcasts I really listen to now are NVC and Game Scoop (which is probably their best show imo).. The XBOX one is OK at times but I have to be in the mood for Ryan "please pick me up for a voice over" Mcaffrey. I'm sorry to say I find the UK podcast absolutely terrible.
I don't know if its because I'm getting grumpier as I'm getting older, but I think the overall quality of IGN podcasts has dropped off significantly in the last year or so with only really Game Scoop being worth a listen. Because a lot of these hosts are on multiple shows now (Brian is on Beyond, NVC, Game Scoop - Marty on Beyond, XBOX etc) you hear the same thing again and again each week - Beyond used to be more focused on PlayStation specifics. If they are going to go that route - just don't have multiplatform podcasts and do it like Giant Bomb (e.g. just make Game Scoop a longer show).
Avoid gaming videos other than angry Joe reviews and avgn.
The music from that clip though #psnostalgialevelrising
I think the problem with the new Podcast Beyond is that the people on it are not diehard PlayStation fans. They're knowledgeable and can talk about games, but they don't live and breathe PlayStation like Greg and Colin do.
I always felt that because of Greg and Colin's passion for PlayStation, they tended to provide some of the best criticism as well. Anyone who's interested about games can talk about PlayStation, but you have to invest yourself 100 per cent into it to achieve what Greg and Colin achieved.
I also agree that IGN were crazy to let them go, but I'm not sure what they could have done to hold onto them. As soon as they left, it was inevitable they'd bring all of their fans with them.
@get2sammyb
I thought Greg was somewhat of a Sony shill at times, but Colin has definitely gone after the company when it f's up.
@shingi_70 they aren't cancelling any of their other shows, this podcast is just a fan requested addition to the range of content they are currently doing.
@Gamer83
Agree, Unlocked is a decent podcast, same with NVC, Beyond is the one that needs help after Greg and Colin left.
Greg is harmless enough, but Colin Moriarty is just unsufferable.
Love the Kinda funny gamescast, excited for more!
@sub12
IGN probably feels compelled to keep it going because of how popular it was but I think it'd be best to re-brand Podcast Beyond or drop it entirely.
@sub12 Game Scoop is also good, and the television, movie and anime podcast are o.k... is just beyond that really really sucks, where before it was the best show in the whole site
BEYOND!! Wait, what am I suppose to yell now?
@shingi_70 They're doing better than expected, given their ability to expand now and start creating new products beyond (!) what they already offer. Exciting times for KF.
XOXO
