There's been a lot of confusion over when Destiny's latest expansion, The Taken King, goes live. Being an online-only release, it's no surprise that Bungie is working to make sure that everything clicks without issue, and with that in mind, it'll be launching the add-on at a specified worldwide time. In other words, don't expect to be playing it at midnight.
Fortunately, we've put together a quick list of times for all of you Guardians to make sure that you don't miss out. Are you staying up late - or, indeed, getting up early - for this one, or are you just going to begin your latest adventure when you feel like it? No exciting late night hype for us Brits - unless we stay awake until 10AM. But why would you do such a thing?
@ShogunRok I got a test on Wednesday so i'll be spending Tuesday revising, then Wednesday I've family staying for a while. Bah! Still gunna have a wee go, though.
Having said that I'll be enjoying the story and exploring all the changes solo for the next week or so anyway before bothering with much multiplayer - do look forward to playing with you guys when we're all powered up, though!

Im confused why the new york time is ahead of chicago time. Isnt central and hour behind eastern?

I know that the time the Taken King becomes playable is at 10am (UK) - the same time as the daily resets (like bounties etc) but I want to know when I can redeem my code to access this content. Have we already downloaded it in that big patch and all the code does is unlock the Taken King content or do we need to download it on the day?

My copy is in the post, I'm at work. Tomorrow evening it is the, I'll be smashing through bounties and quests ranking up 5 different subclasses.
@BAMozzy I've prordered it digitally. The download is 10mb. Based on that i'm pretty sure you've downloaded all the content in the 18gb patch and you'll only have a tiny download on the day. So just redeem it at 10am.
Same for House of Wolves/Dark Below. Everyone had the content, you were paying to unlock it. So hopefully no big downloads!!
I think you guys have the chicago and new york time flipped, chicago is an hour behind new york, so new york should be 5am, chicago 4am. That is all, nust wanted to let you know. I could be wrong though, but would seem odd.

@professorhat I worked at home for 5-6 years. Many times did work days turn into play days.
Yeah, I'm not that busy at the moment and have done 45 days unpaid overtime so far this year, so won't feel too guilty taking some time out
I'll be joining the fight on Wednesday night after I get this paper done on the internal debates in English departments over the secession or continued unity of the writing studies and English studies disciplines. It's riveting. But after leveling up to 32 this weekend, I'm thankfully already ready for TTK! I've had my problems with Destiny, but I'm honestly excited to jump back in for a bit, especially to play with friends!
